petcock gas leak

Hey guys bought Kawasaki kz 700 on july 3rd drove it home(ran good). this morning i got ready to ride and noticed gas pour from the plastic spacer in my petcock. Is this common? there seems to be a lil grove in the plastic block spacer that gas pours out of please help. I JUST WANNA RIDE

Maybe you'll get answers on a Kawasaki forum? Here mostly Honda CB people, especially SOHC models.

Also try the 'Other Bikes' section but I will take a stab at it.

Does it use a vacuum petcock like a bunch of those bikes did? Could be a torn diaphragm on it. Ebay has rebuild kits for the petcock, used them with good success on a friends kz550.

Picture would be more helpful too
