connecting rod bolts
« on: July 09, 2014, 09:59:42 AM »
I found several articles recommending not to reuse the connecting rod bolts in a rebuild on the 1976 and older CB750. In that the bolts are not available from Honda. Will the bolts for the 1977 750 work? Any alternatives other than new rods?  Or putting the old ones back in with a short prayer?
Thanks

Which model F, K, or A? If memory serves the F bolts will work and are a decent upgrade.

I think if they aren't stretched they could be re-used if you're not planning on bumping horsepower a ton or doing high RPM riding.

Thanks for the information.  I found part of a post on the UK forum  I believe it was an F that was indicated could be used. The K that I am building is just the first over with a .360 valve lift 270 degree cam, and lightened crank.  So hopefully i will not need to buy new rods? Would anyone know the Honda part number for the  F rod bolts?

Your stock rods will be fine. You shouldn't have to worry about them unless you're spinning 80+ hp.

To help ease your mind some... I'm running stock rods on my F with a JE 836kit, stage 3 head, 125-65cam, and mikuni carbs and not worrying about it at all. I also beat the holy hell out of my bike and it's doing fine.
