Oh No! Am I screwed!

I started installing my forks today and went by the book which said to tighten the top and lower bridge bolts 13-17 ft lbs and this happened!






WHAT DO I DO!!!

Bummer  :-\
time to look for another lower tree and stem
(the 350F does not require a spacer at the clamp)

its the top bridge the lower one is still ok

The Crack goes all the way through on the front.  half way down in the inside.  it doesn't completely go through on the bottom.  You wonder why this bike has taken me 5+ years and $4k to restore .  screw this this bike is soon to be parted out if stuff like this keeps happening

Sorry James.  saw lower bridge bolts in your OP and thoght thats what it was.
Take a break, no pun intended, and get to something else. 
maybe someone here is parting one out and can help.

Don't freak.  That is not a rare part.  What bike and year?  I probably have one for you.  Did you have the D washers in there?

Feel sorry for you. Could you have made an error setting the torque wrench?
BTW, I am not particularly fond of using these wrenches for low torque values.

No didnt make any mistake with the torque wrench.  I used my fancy craftsman 200 dollar torque wrench because I am always scared of cheap torque wrenches.

Hey, sorry to hear that. I actually got parts recently from David Silver Spares and I remember seeing a Top Triple tree on there. If you go on that site and put in your bike info, all the parts available will come up, they might have one. the top tree I saw was for a 78 750K and was only $95.00. Good luck man, hope it works out for you. Sorry I'm on my first one so I don't have any spare parts. I'm sure you'll be able to finde one.

Already checked their site they do not carry the top bridge :(

um not much just had to replace a fair amount of parts then a lot of rare parts like original giulari seat for the cb350f and mivv exhaust system throw all the powder coating, painting , and new parts and it adds up very very fast, too fast im starting to think 4k is an underestimate :(

It is easy to spend 3 grand on a restoration done properly.
Now days many parts are $100
But that triple tree is easy to get. There are lots of them.
I would not use a torque wrench either. Just tighten it by hand.
Make sure about those "D" washers.
Many people have broken those castings because washers were missing.

cb350f? ooops  might go ahead and freak.  I've never even touched one of those before.  I assumed 500/550/750.

So is this pretty normal? I did have the part powder coated professionally where they strip it and all that stuff.  could powder coating of actually weakened the piece ?

What is the range of your "fancy" torque wrench? For such low values, the torque wrench should have a maximum of about 25 ft/lbs.
