Topic: Which way up CB750F1 engine cases reassembly

I see that the manual advises installing crankshaft and internals into upper crank case.

I can see that it would make it easier to feed con rods through, but doesnt it make it more difficult to locate the gear selector fork?

I took apart by lifting upper cases from lower, as its easier to rest on bench and less risk of damaging cylinder studs

Any advice appreciated before I start reassembling.  Thanks

Follow the UPSIDE-DOWN directions in the shop manual. Drill a few appropriate holes in a wood-plank to protect the studs...........and prop the upper case on a block of wood to raise it from the bench.  A rotating motor-stand avoids those problems.

Why is it better to assemble upside down?

Its the only way to get endless chains installed and it loads the crank-bearings before the motor is moved to the upright position.
