Final drive gearing question

I know that this is one of those "how longs a piece of string " questions ::), but I'm looking for a ball park figure for my final drive gearing just to get me up and rolling .I also know that I'll probably end up with a load of sprockets like I always have in the past when I've been looking for the perfect set up on other bikes  ;D .Some facts , I'm looking for quarter mile gearing, I plan on running a 530 chain and I'm going to be running a M/T 25x7x18 rear tyre and wheelie bars   . Engine wise , well it's not built yet ::) but it will be a dedicated drag motor around the 1000/1080 mark based on an F1 motor . Cheers Greg "H"

O.K . I'm going with 16/50 and we'll see how it goes  ::) .

Greg, I still have the rear wheel of my old 750 drag bike with sprocket on it{i never raced it, just bought it}, if the engine still has the front sprocket on it i'll check for you, it was a methanol bike and pretty quick in its day, I think i have the gearing documented in the little book i got with the bike, it has every part listed including gearing....I just have to find it... :o ;)

If You can't fix it with a hammer, You've got an electrical problem.

I ran 17/54. On street and 1/8 mile. 16/50 should be very close to that.
 If you run that, you still have an option to run 16/54. As a choice ( i would stay away from 15 tooth)
 However with a motor your size you may be changing up to 18 tooth at the track, if you are revving too high.
 Are you planning to use all 5 gears, or going thru the traps wound out in 4th(should work on a motor with some torque)

Not sure about that yet . I won't be using an air shift, so using 4th may be the better option .We'll just have to suck it an see ,  which is all part of the fun I guess  ;D ;D
