Help me identify this wheel... 75 750F
« on: July 12, 2014, 06:13:00 AM »
I friend of mine recently purchased a 75 750F which admittedly I am not intimately familiar with. However when looking at it this rear wheel does not look as though it belongs on an F and was hoping ya'll could help me identify it.

The rotor side has 4 bolts (not studs) holding the rotor to the wheel. The rotor looks to be the proper size for an F but the hub looks kind of small to me. The sprocket has a 36 tooth which doesn't mean to much as I know that can be swapped. The tire is WAY too skinny but it could be an undersized tire. I believe the sprocket carrier has 6 bolts on it.

Here are pictures...

Thanks again guys!

Are we sure it's a 75?

That is not a stock 75 rear caliper. Is that perhaps a 77/78 caliper? They use different gearing/sprockets too.

No ID necessary................take it off of the bike before something BAD happens.  Then check the motor to confirm it is the original.........not what I suspect is a 77-78 replacement.........needing a wheel change to align the sprockets.  The stock wheel for a 75-76 F-model is available..........but you will have to pay for fighting the mosquitoes at my friends salvage yard. ;D ;D

The rotor design looks like either yamaha or Suzuki.

Thanks guys. I thought the caliper looked wrong as well and I'd never seen a 750 rotor with just 4 bolts...I recommended he not ride on the wheel.

I thought it might be a 550 wheel or even a Yamaha wheel. The hub looked bent on it too. His thought was he'd get a new hub which I told him to not even worry about...just buy the proper wheel and be done with it.

Much appreciated for your input!
