Carburetor Adjustment
« on: July 13, 2014, 08:52:40 am »
Hi,

I have a question about two screws on the carburetors, one on the throttle plate and the other on the carburetor mount plate. This is shown below in the pictures.

What are these for and how do you set them up correctly?

The bike is a 1975 CB750f1.

Both are stops.  Top one looks about right - it's position is fixed - fail safe - keeps the arm from driving the needles into the main jets.  The bottom photo - it limits the height that the throttle cable can pull the slides open, it's adjustable.  You don't want to rip them out of the carbs.
Yep, I'm the kid that figured out how to put things back together...eventually.

The top one CAN be adjusted. Honda spec is 2-3mm clearance.

Hi,

Thanks for the quick responses!

Okay, so the top picture is showing about two mm's clearance so that is fine.

Is the bottom screw meant to have clearance too or suppose to come in contact with the throttle plate? Currently there is a few mm's clearance.

It should be turned so that it doesn't allow the linkage to open too far at WOT. Screw it in when your carbs are completely reassembled, and make sure the linkage doesn't a) slip out of the adjusters and b) hang up when you release the throttle.
