Hi from Waterloo!
« on: July 17, 2014, 08:54:23 AM »
Hi everyone, I've been lurking around on here since I picked up a '75 CB550 K last October, but figured I should finally introduce myself.
This is my first bike. Over the winter I cleaned out and rebuilt the carbs and some electrical components which were malfunctioning. It's now on the road, but it still needs some tweaking. I took the carbs off again last week, as I didn't know to remove the emulsion tubes when I had the carbs apart the first time. It still seems to be running rich, though...

Thanks for the welcome everybody!

It's been a while since I introduced myself, but I hope to be posting more. I may start a build thread, as my head gasket has been leaking and I've been getting ready to replace it.

Looking forward to seeing your posts Itenk.

Have you gather up any parts yet, and where are you sourcing them?

Brian

Hi Brian,
I've got a pile of parts, some on the bike, and some still waiting to go on. Locally, I've visited Cycle Improvements in Waterloo for carb rebuild kits, Sirius Consolidated in Cambridge for a Uni foam air filter and the bars that are on the bike in my photo. One of the reflectors on the fork was missing, and was an issue when my PO tried to get the bike safetied (he never got it on the road), but I found what I was looking for for a few dollars at Zdeno Cycle in Kitchener.

I had to hit up eBay looking for new brake pads, and also got some gaskets and OEM fuel line from various vendors on there. I got stainless brake lines for the front brake from Slingshot cycles (he goes by the name Pampodori on here). I also ordered some other parts from 4into1.com.
