Well, I guess I'm the new guy.....
« on: September 23, 2006, 02:49:53 PM »
Hello! Well, guess I'm the noob for today. I am new to SOHC ownership, just received delivery of my Boss Maroon Metallic 1974 CB550 K0 (pics to follow soon i hope) she is a damn perfect all-original bike my old man spotted and told me about, its the classic "family member bought it, was too old to ride it, and then kept it for 30+ years" only issue is the guys dad fell over at a stop light on the way home from the dealership and bunged the right side-cover  :'( I'm having a helluva time finding a good one to replace it (i know, that belongs in the tech forum so I'll shut up ). anyway, when I heard about it I was busy doing military training , but boy was it a great find! long story short, I bought it.  frustrating part is I am 1400 miles away from it and have had to wait 2 months to even see her in person, much less ride her. but man, I'm counting the days till October 6th.... well, my brother has a CB400 and swears by this site (GroovyGhoulie) so I checked it out, and I am impressed, alot of good people around here. I dont know everything about these bikes, but I'm pretty handy with a wrench, and I'm dying to get dirty and learn.

Wow...I`d almost be afraid to ride it.  Shrink wrap that baby for another 20 years.

I think he's going to get a daily rider and this will be the "every now and then" ride.  Which is sort-of counter-productive to me because this was bought as a First Bike.

Yeah, but with a  bike as beautiful as that i would be a real shame to wear it out and let it get screwed up.

Lol!
Hey groovy, i know a certain someone who just needs to sign the papers and inherit a certain F-model 750 with 600 original miles, one thats ALMOST as clean as mine.  yeah, this bike is gonna be enjoyed SPARINGLY and ridden packed in about 8 inches of bubble wrap and foam. the hunt now begins for a daily. i just couldn't pass this bike up. Oh yeah, as soon as i get home i will post some updated pics. I made the Girlfriend drive an hour to my house just to get the pics of it being offloaded, and she didn't take enough (is there such a thing) ::).  If  its half as sweet as the pics i got, I'm never gonna want to leave it again.

So is the nom de plume a historical fact? If so, what have you ton-ed up on? If not, are you hoping to 'ton-up' on this baby?

If it is as pristine as it looks I would park it in front of the fireplace just to look at, and get an old beater for riding....naah, just kidding. Ride the snot out of it!

well, if ya dont tell my old man, i snuck the 750f model out at night and ran it up to an indicated 107 a few days before I left to go to maryland. Sorry groovy, I ran yer girl a little  but dont worry, she wasnt even breathing hard. she's heavy as a fridge, but stable in the straights. Not my best idea though, she isnt titled or insured yet, but no harm no foul i suppose.
