Dumb question

What does CB stand for?  Cool Bike? Cold Beer? Carbs Broken?

Here's my guess.  The early Honda bikes in the US were the "C" series, such as the C100 Cub.  A "CA" series of bikes followed before the CB superbikes.  Thus, to misquote Nigel, "The CB is one higher than the CA, isn't it?"

My guess as to why Honda started with the "C" series in the US is that they had already gone 2 higher than the "A" series they started with in Japan.

Going back to the '60s  the C92 was the road tourer and the CB92 was the supersports or semi-race version of the same bike. The same applied to the C72 and CB72, so I think the 'B' was an indication of tuned or sports bike.

Street bike. Although the mid-late 160 Hondas we worked on, we used to call them C[/b]rank B[/b]reakers.
