relocating petcock?
« on: April 02, 2012, 05:14:03 AM »
i'm working on my cb650, and have replaced the tank with one from a '74 cb450. it looks great, but the petcock is located right above the carbs, and so there's no room for it. i want to cheaply relocate the petcock (plugging the original bung) by using a universal type like this one http://motorcycle.motorcycle-superstore.com/motorcycle/Universal%20Petcock. it looks as simple as drilling a new hole and screwing in the plate. is it?

has anyone tried something like this? recommended?

thanks

Did you try that petcock? If so, did it work? I am attempting the same exact tank swap.

They work but the problem is that you can't really take it off much, or probably more than once. Those self tapping screws probably won't grab again
