CB750 K6 - Seat Info Help
« on: July 22, 2014, 08:50:12 AM »
Working on restoring my 750 K6 and getting info together on Fixing the Seat.
In the pictures below, the Seat Cover is split in two places on big split along seam and a small split toward the middle.  Looking at the bottom, the "drain holes" in the pan that expose the foam.  The foam feels a bit stiff but when you push on it feels spongy.  The edging is a bit beat up.  I have been looking on ebay at seat covers, etc. and there are a lot of ads for new covers all claiming to be "the Best".  OK, so here are my questions.
1. Where can I get a Good seat cover?  I'd like to stay as original as possible.
2. Should I replace the foam as well?  If so, recommendations on where to get new foam.
3. Also want to get new edging.  Best place or recommendations?
4. Will also clean and paint the pan.  Recommendations on Paint, etc.?
5. Any tips on doing the replacement?

Thanks,

Charlie

I recently did my 550 seat, pretty easy and I was very happy with the results. Before...

After...

The strap and chrome trim were in good shape, so I was able to reuse them, that makes a big difference 'cause the strap they sent was crap.

EricHa,
Thanks for the links.  I am definitely looking for a new cover that looks original and the chrome(?) trim as well.

Stev-o
That is a nice Job!  Looks like the original!!!  Where did you get your cover?  And do they make covers for the 750?

Thanks,

Charlie

Thanks Charlie, I've recovered a few and this is one that I was extremely happy with. It was fairly easy and only took an hour and a half or so.

Got it on ebay from this seller...
