Well so far it is just a us-mexico border. There are fences up around there anyways. however, it is one step closer to the us-canada fence. Both of which will do no good and cost lots of money and require border agents that we dont have.

I hope it's a high tensile 20 strand, all hot, oh 440 volt should do :)

Those Canadian miscreants don't like to be shocked,
but with 440 border patrols would need linemans gloves
and have to go round knocking off those that grabbed hold and got stuck :)

Really is a stupid idea though, this southern miscreant keeps thinking he'd like
to visit Canada again, but, I don't know if I want the hassle with the crossing,
and I don't like traveling unarmed.

I like the comment that the budget as it stands 'could grow'. That is almost an inevitability.

AND, I feel slighted; why are us western Canadian miscreants being singled out for 'the fence'.....? Oh yes, that's right, you cannot put a fence up in the middle of the Great Lakes, and I suppose the St.Lawrence river is a huge deterrent to those eastern Canadian miscreants who may want to hop over the border.

Somehow I do not see Canada or Canadians as a threat.
Dedicated to Sgt. Howard Bruckner 1950 - 1969. KIA LONG KHANH.

But we were boys, and boys will be boys, and so they will. To us, everything was dangerous, but what of that? Had we not been made to live forever?

What do you know Bobby ???

Canadians are very dangerous, and as Niick has pointed out,
western Canadians are the worst, their own Government will
probably build a fence from the uS boarder fence to the Artic,
that will keep them from going east :)

They'll probably have the Canadian virtual fence finished just before they announce they're reinstating the draft. :o

Oh wow! do I see a lucrative fence building job now for sure.
Canadian southern boarder, maybe and international deal to build the
Canadian Fence and the Alaskan fence will be needed to.  :)

Had this sent to me recently:

"Why We Should Allow Illegal Immigration

Recently large demonstrations have taken place across the country protesting the fact that Congress is finally addressing the issue of illegal immigration. Certain people are angry that the US might protect its own borders, might make it harder to sneak into this country and, once here, to stay indefinitely. Let me see if I correctly understand the thinking behind these protests.

Let's say I break into your house. Let's say that when you discover me in your house, you insist that I leave. But I say, "I've made all the beds and washed the dishes and did the laundry and swept the floors; I've done all the things you don't like to do. I'm hard-working and honest (except for when I broke into your house).

According to the protesters, not only must you let me stay, you must add me to your family's insurance plan, educate my kids, and provide other benefits to me and to my family (my husband will do your yard work because he too is hard-working and honest, except for that breaking in part).

If you try to call the police or force me out, I will call my friends who will picket your house carrying signs that proclaim my right to be there. It's only fair, after all, because you have a nicer house than I do, and I'm just trying to better myself. I'm hard-working and honest, um, except for, well, you know.

And what a deal it is for me!! I live in your house, contributing only a fraction of the cost of my keep, and there is nothing you can do about it without being accused of selfishness, prejudice and being an 'anti-housebreaker'. Oh yeah, and I want you to learn my language so you can communicate with me."

all good points and I agree 100% - I just don't see many Canadians sneaking across the border and wanting to be a part of the US of A.  :)

I feel very sad for the state the world is in. Especially because people in positions of power have to make decisions which seem like common sense to them, but which on the face of it are not necessarily a good idea, but which they have to do to appease the people they want to vote for them.

I feel very happy that I live in Canada.

Seriously, it's a tough situation. Enforce the laws on the books, and those here illegally should go home.
I don't think we can keep them from sneaking back with a fence (a fence will only work on Canadian miscreants who don't want to be here anyway :)) , so those who hire illegals must be
held accountable also, while those who sneak back must be returned to there home again.
