1975 CB750 Super Sport Filler Lid Lock
« on: July 24, 2014, 03:13:02 AM »
looking to fix the gas tank on the above mentioned bike.

i need the filler lid lock, parts # 37220390003. Obviously searched the webernets and came up for naught. I'm wondering if theres another year or parts number lid lock that would work? is there a standard sized locking mechanism i can pop in there?

or maybe something besides a lock? just something i can flick over? the original lock appears to be plastic and has cracked.

Yeah, you see that it's a -390 part number. That is NOT a 75 750F (-392) part number.

Use this, right side:

When they come up, which is seldom, a NOS lock is $60-$90.  Sometimes its easier to find an old tank on ebay with the lock still in place.  Any CB550/750 key should work the lock.

Have you tried messing with the spring/wire clip right above the gas cap that the lock pushes into? I've had a couple where at first the lid was either a bear to close or wouldn't stay closed. All I did was remove that wire clip, bend it back in shape, reinstall it and the everything worked like new.

They really aren't locks, just latches that will work with any key, or even a screwdriver. I think I have a spare, but won't know till tomorrow. Nearly the same part was used on lots of Hondas from about 1975-1978. I think 550 and 360 use the same part

I could use one if you're letting go of your spare, so my tank lid don't bounce anymore

Sorry. As I mentioned I had to did it out of the pile of left overs in my garage. Unfortunately the chrome disc that covers the "lock" part of it has been popped off by someone over the years, but the latching mechanism still works great. On the bike this is going on, you have the wire clip shaped kind of like a dog bone that this latches into? Not sure what the door it is connected to is off of, but the latches are all the same.
