CB550 Allen Bolt Torque?
« on: August 04, 2014, 07:23:24 PM »
I got the Allen bolt kit off ebay and remember specific torque recommendations that were different from the factory specs.

Does anyone still have that info?
I must have thrown it out.

Thanks,
Felix

don't torque any 6mm bolt itll strip, just nip it down then a little more,if it had a Phillips head youd only be twisting it up anyway?

Alu threads are fragile. Easy to strip. Cam chain tensioner housing and head cover is typical for my CB750.
I usually think as dave500, do not torqe more than phillips heads with a std scredriver. I have allen bolt screwdrivers.
Good idea to have a thread repair kit, helicoil type. (M6). I have some threads to repair for next winter. Some possible to fix by using longer screws.

And if you do torque only use a 1/4" wrench
