I think I got sent the wrong axle, possibly from a F bike?

Temporary (way short) shocks till mine arrive, but it's on its own wheels

Just got another axle on the bay supposedly from a 72. Hopefully it fits. Everything else on here is exactly right according to parts fiche.

Can't tell from the pix, but you do have the spacer on the right side of the bike, correct? Wish I'd checked on here sooner, Jerimiah here was selling a complete axle with the spacer and chain adjusters for $16 shipped

Yeah I have the spacer. Everything is there. Axle is just too long. Even without the spacer it wouldn't matter though, as it is the length outside the swingarm. Oh well, hope new one works!

What handlebars are those? I'm considering black anodized Renthals for my K3, but don't wanna give up the drilled kind to conceal control wiring. I have one in mind on ebay that I'm thinking about getting PC'd.

They are renthal low rise (not ultra low) black. I am drilling these. I drilled my last set on my other bike, and while wires were tight, they all fit fine. Going to tackle that tomorrow, so... Pics to follow

Here ya go. Lined up controls where I wanted them, marked and drilled out. Obviously make sure to file smooth all edges. It's harder with these bars cause they are thicker aluminum, so the internal clearance is smaller, but here's evidence it works. Just be patient.

Installed rebuilt oil lines. The return line was a touch long and didn't bend perfectly smooth, causing it to just barely "flatten" is this ok or should I find another?

In my opinion that doesn't look too severe of a kink to hurt flow at all. From the pics alone I'd say leave it.

Looking good, especially that dash label, painted over the HONDA label? Also, glad you got the slingshot lines, I recall reading a thread where no one was getting through on their site. My K3 is going to be kitted pretty much like this one so I can't whine about the timing

Dave, I noticed the carb's aren't on yet. Did you get any carb->head boots yet? I'm exploring options on that, I have a full set of NOS ones for my K2, and the damned things feel hard while still in packaging

and the clamps and screws are gnarly at best. Not sure about the boots yet, but for the clamps, I'm considering these stainless ones, worth checking out if you haven't already got that part squared away.

Thanks for that. I have nos boots in packaging as well. They feel hard, but it was the same way with my other bike, comparing to old ones, they are actually very pliable. I will probablly get clamps like that. Have factory ones, but they just feel so flimsy.

For anyone curious, the instructions say (and demonstrate with pix) to install them with the flanges on the head, then jam a long wooden rod up the rear of the pipes, then make them bend to fit at the pillion foot rest
