Front brake dragging
« on: July 29, 2014, 09:13:59 PM »
Hey. I have a 1974 cb550. I'm having trouble with the master cylinder and brake assembly. I've rebuilt the master cylinder using a kit off of ebay. I put in all new stainless brake lines directly into the caliper; new EBC pads; new piston seal; cleaned the groove in the caliper body; cleaned the piston which only had three tiny pits; lubed up the back and sides of the pads.

I tried to bleed the brakes but the front brake is still significantly dragging. It's clear that the piston is not retracting. The fixed pad is adjusted correctly. The return hole in the master cylinder is clear. But there is a leak from the brake lever that I'm pretty sure is brake fluid.

Also the lever grabs really hard and won't get close to the grip when fully compressed.

Any ideas on what to try next?
