How about a fund raiser for Trevor/B.O.X.K.N.I.F.E.?
« on: July 30, 2014, 07:51:19 AM »
It's easy to forget what Trevor is going through.  He and his family are facing obstacles that would seem overwhelming to some people, all because of someone else's actions.

How would the SOHC4 community feel about doing a fund raiser?  I bet that between all the members,  we have enough spare parts to build a bike that could then be auctioned or raffled off.
I know I have a ton of spares and could come up with quite a few good parts. The biggest donation would be a starter bike or frame with title.
Would you guys be down with donating time or labor or parts to help out Trevor?

I had heard he was in a accident at the time but up until now I had no idea how devastating it was. Let me know what you want to build and I will scavenge my garage!

I have a plethora of 550 parts and a little bit of 750 front end stuff.

I wonder if anyone has a bike or frame to get started with?

Maybe some of the moderators can make this a sticky or cross post it to the other forums?

I can get us a frame from Bill Benton. 750 or 550. Your decision.

I'm in for either.  The 750 forks I have would work on either.

Maybe people can start listing a part or two they can donate?

Do you know which he would prefer? Or what was he riding? Perhaps that could guide us?

Trevor had a 550. Unfortunately, he's not able to ride at this time, so the bike would be for a raffle or auction to raise funds for his relocation or medical bills.  Whatever his family chooses.

A nice clean resto-mod? Classic, with some braking and suspension upgrades? No cafe, no brat I'm thinking for greatest appeal to a wide audience?

I have some stuff laying around.  None of it show quality though.  When the bike is settled on, I'll look around.

While this is meant to be forum/country wide, I'm excited to see that the first to reply are on the East coast. That'll certainly make some of the logistics easier!

If anybody is going to Barber's this year, that would be the time to meet up with parts.  Especially big parts that can't be shipped (easily).

Not to be a wet blanket but I think this has been tried before (maybe for another member?) No one could agree what to build, who to build it etc, etc, etc. THAT SAID, I am in for parts for a 750 but don't think I am available to build it. I would say a resto/mod is the way to go. Who wants to put it together????

I've got some 500 parts I could donate: airbox, foot pegs and a few other odds and ends.
