CB350G Carb issue?
« on: August 01, 2014, 03:57:46 AM »
So the bike has been running great but the carbs fell out of sync. So after a ride I synced the carbs and tuned the air bleed screws independently ( normally I take care to keep them equal). Then I addressed a few wires in the headlight bucket. One was a disconnected wire which caused my charging system to underperform.

Now the bike runs well at part throttle but not at open throttle. Like the main jet is dirty. I couldn't tell which side was giving me problems. I checked float bowels and both had good fuel levels. I don't really want to open the carbs if I don't need to ( pesky bowel o-ring). I don't know what could have happened. I reset the sir screws to 1 turn but that didn't do anything. I am running fuel filters.
Any suggestions are appreciated.

Bite the bullet and pull your carbs and clean them thoroughly and properly. It's the only way these bikes run well for prolonged periods of time.

You might also check the inside of your tank. If it's rusty, re-rust it. If you've run the fuel level low, and been on reserve, you may have sucked some debris into the carbs despite the inline filters. If so, clean the tank thoroughly and avoid low fuel level going forward. But dirt in the mains means cleaning the carbs. You can't adjust around it.

You're probably right. I just thought the main jet was the least likely to get clogged due to its size. It sounds uncommon. I'll have to bite the bullet.

I found the needle on the right carb was collapsed. Looks like the brass cap came unpressed. I pressed it in and I think it will hold. Very strange.
