Please tell me this bike has a side cover you can buy?   It could be some type of Mod oil pan but its simply wonderful.  Anyone know anything about this bike?

I don't know, but that's a gorgeous bike. I'd buy those side covers too!

I found it. The whole build is here. Unfortunately its a 450 and I don't think the side covers will fit on a 750.  =/

The 450 side covers have many differences from year to year, but all have two flat  'male' tabs on the top that fit into 'female' slots on the frame, with rubber grommets.  In the middle is a screw that screws into a skewer which goes through and holds the airbox/filter/ badge together.

Anything can be done, but it may take welding on the frame and other mods.

This version has a 'v' stamped into the side which used to help locate a badge which they eventually did away with and smoothed out. It also had two holes that hold the badge, about 2-3 mm diameter and it looks like they smoothed those out here.  The pins on the  plastic badges all break, so just the screw and two sided tape is what I used to  hold them.

I've got extra pairs of these if you want some, and others, that would all need paint or tank painted to match, holes filled, etc.

I like that they are metal, they dent instead of shatter.

I got to looking through my boxes and pulled out a tape measure and took some photos, but can't find the cable to plug the phone in to the computer.

I do have several pairs, they all have issues. I guess one of them had the v shaped contour bondo'd out when they de-badged the bike.

Depending on the year, the  badge pin locator holes are either 2 1/4 or 3 1/4 apart.

I better write down all the dimensions if you want to adapt them, just took pics and will upload when I find a cable.

Here's what I know about the 450 side covers. The original ones on the '65 were chrome and might have even been cast. I do not have any of these. Around '69 they were still streamlined, but were pressed metal and painted, and still much larger. They wrapped around the front of the airbox a bit more, and had a front surface like a zephyr train.  By about 1970 they were all steep sided triangle-trapezoid pan shaped, with steeper sides.

Most that I have seem to have the v-shaped contour which is earlier than later.  Of these, earlier ones have badge mounting holes about 3 1/4" apart, later ones went to about 2 1/4" mounting holes.

First photo shows the size difference, second shows the profile, third shows a blue one without the "V."

The mounting points on top were tabs about 6 1/2 " from far end to far end, and the tabs just under an inch wide.

A screw held down the middle and the badge, which also had pins on each of the upper corners.

The mountin holes for the badges were all about 2"  from the top of the cover. The center screw hole is about 3 1/2" from the top of the cover.

The overall heighth of the cover is about 8" edge to edge. On top it is about 9 1/2 " wide, and on bottom the narrow end is about 5" wide at the turn on the back.

The female slots  on the bike are about 1" wide and 1/4" tall and have grommets that fit in the slot.  A skewer through the air box has a large headed screw that holds it all in place.

The badges changed several times. The ones with the yellow gold background on the DOHC 450 diamond shape, as on the bike above  were metal and the pins were about 3 1/4 apart, as were the cursive lettered triangle ones, made of plastic. The ones with the large 450 had narrower pins, about 2 1/4 apart, also plastic all  the plastic mounting pins break easy.

I have seen earlier ('68?) scramblers that had smaller  rectangular badges, but I do not have an example myself.

This might be a thread that the moderator wants to move to 'other bikes.'

Faux they are too small for me to retro fit for the bike. Thank you for going thru that for me!  Order some coffee and I will double your order. WWW.THEMUSECOFFEECO.COM
