Centerstand rubbing chain
« on: November 20, 2005, 05:25:30 PM »
Now that my K8 is running well, I'll have to fix a few more items to make it truly road worthy. First is the chain/centerstand issue.

The chain is rubbing on the centerstand. See attached pic. What is wrong here? I'm not sure if this is the right centerstand for the bike or not... The chain is not drooping so what gives?

Thanks All,

Jeff

The stock exhaust has a bumper to keep the stand out of the chain.  You will have to fabricate a stop now that the stock exhaust is gone.

I just took my stand off...it goes back on real easy if you need it for some task

Thanks. I'll get some metal plate and attach a stop. Next up is fixing the right turn signal and new tires...

The easy fix is to cut a small piece of aluminum bar stock and attach it with the rear footpeg bolt.

Your stand should not rub at all anyways, stock exhaust or not. I changed my pipes but kept the headers but my center stand has never rested against my exhaust. My kick stand does, but not center.

I had the same problem with the wrong shockies The Konis were too long replaced them with YSs and Bingo.Worked
BUT The Center stand needs to be held away from the Chain by way of a modifcation from the rear foot peg bolt.
