NCCB got a new tablet when I figure out how to use properly I'll start posting in the meantime it's brilliant that an 70 year old Airplane is in good enough condition to fly the Atlantic particularly one who's sisters I worked on.

Youtube, being the clever git that it is, proposed the following for my viewing pleasure :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AqrbtxcNqbM

I wish I had one of them in my garage ! There is a brand new Merlin in Duxford, still in the shipping case. If I could only back up a hired transit, cut the fence etc etc

Well as an old fitter I did my homage before she left Mt Hope (Hamilton Ontario) by dipping my hands in used 100 weight engine oil and rubbing it into my skin.
It felt good, my hands are starting to get rough again and she's in the UK. You say 100 weight i say that's why when they shut them down they do an oil dilution run so that the oil will be thin when the engines are started next.

Me too, they are a bit ungainly on the ground but when they are in their natural element they are as graceful as albatross. The other thing I don't know if I mentioned it before but at a squadron due, Joe Mcarthy talked about getting ready for the dam busters raid and was saying the Lanc's they flew were totally different than 407's Lanc's they were rigged like fighter A/C as far as quickness on the controls and sensitivity where 407's were rigged like bombers and he found it was different to get used to. Any how to listen to a Merlin purring away is great that guys is why I like megaphones on my bikes the noise, see I was ruined by Rolls Royce.

Did you ever hear a Mk2 or a later Hally? I've always been curious about how a Hercules sounds.
