As far as my next bike goes, I'm not sure on frame mods.

I'd really like to run the same seat set up on the next bike as this one.  Only frame mods I had to make on this one was two mounting brackets for the seat to sit on.  The seat pan being steel helped out on not having to modify the frame much more,

4k? It's hard for a mint all stock 550 to hit that price. As usual I will reiterate what others have said, a bike is worth what someone is willing to pay. It's hard to get back the amount one put into a bike unless a quick clean up and tune up is all it needed. Good luck with the sale though and hope you are pleased at the end.

When I had it listed before when it ran bad and needed a lot finished up it was at 1825 with 4 1/2 days left.

Absolutely cool dude who truly loves motorcycles.  Talking with him makes me all inspired to build something new or go for a ripping ride.  I love the CBR (his personal ride) that he's currently working on.

Wow that's cheap. My bike was close to that when it ran like sh!t and needed stuff finished up on it and still had 4 1/2 days left.  I took it down off eBay, got it running good and finished it
Up.  We'll see what happens, it's going on eBay tomorrow night

Wow what a fuc!ing horrible night! 

Adjusted the valves on the bike, discovered my throttle cable came loose and wasn't letting the carbs open up all the way.  Wow, it's a different bike now.


Anyways, I ride it up the road , turn around and the bike shuts off.  Then I see smoke and smell something weird.  Yeah... This pos 135$ shorai battery blew up.  Guess I'm just lucky it didn't burn the bike to the ground.

I've put 170 miles on bike and no problems until tonight.  Mines not the first case of this happening.  Google  shorai battery fire...

Discolored a few spots on my frame too.  I'd like to push this thing off a cliff and watch it burn to the ground at this point.  I'll sell this thing cheap if anyone's interested

That's crazy dude, Sorry to hear it. I've run Shorai batteries on my last two bikes and will again on my current build just due to my own experience with them. That leaves me head scratching to think it was a defective battery.

Glad it wasn't worse.

That sucks man. Glad it didn't cause any more damage or injury to you or someone else. Those batteries may have this issue occur once in a while but I think Cal is correct. Not trying to boast Cal ' s ego but the man is super stupid smart. 170 miles is nothing after a rebuild. I always attempt to get minimum 400-500 miles before selling. But those are on flip bikes usually. It's #$%*ty that happened but glad you are here to share. Are you able to test a 40 dollar battery from walmart?

I went back and noticed the electronic  tray and that there may lay some answers.

I seen on dotheton back in  2011 someone had their bike catch on fire.  I shorai tech responded



Judgeing by what he has to say if this was a over charging issue with my bike  the battery should have over charge protection now so this wouldn't happen.

I hooked up a cheap walmart battery I bought last year to it and the only thing that comes on is my
Tach light and the rectifier gets hot to the point I have to unhook the battery...

Good times.  The whole time I was pushing my bike home I was
Praying the thing didn't catch on fire.   Luckily there was just as
