Topic: carburator and airbox for cb500, 4 cyl

How do I get the carb and airbox back on the cb500, 4cyl.  I've removed the battery box and air filter box and have given it a good cussin'. Still can't get them back in the hole!

Are the boots brittle? If so, some lubrication helps, and some use a ratchet strap to draw them together. Or more cussing and lots more beer.

The boots are not brittle, do I tie the airbox on to the carbs and put it all back as one piece?  I have had several beers and poured one on the carbs to no avail.

FTFY. And stop messing about, cuss like a sailor, damn it!

Yes, encircle the carbs and the airbox together and gently ratchet them together. Use some lubey stuff just on the edges of the carb throats to assist in getting them to mate. Extra hands do help, but perhaps your cussing has driven off all the would-be helpers?
