CB500 steering damper install PICS
« on: August 11, 2014, 09:06:40 AM »
I've seen a lot of threads on steering dampers for our bikes, but not too many photos or exact install instructions. So I finally got my damper on this weekend after a while of trying to figure out what kind of clamp to use on the frame. So this thread is for the new people searching.

Damper is a NHK ODM3090E. Got it from Fast From The Past:

Clamp I used is a hardware store rubber covered tube clamp. At first it didn't seem too solid, but once it was tightened down it seemed like it wasn't going anywhere. Rubber cover keeps it snug too. Here's what i'm talking about:

To mount, I used the hole in the stock triple tree. I couldn't find a bolt that actually threaded all the way through, so I went one smaller. Here's the final pics:

Nice install, I didn't even realize there was a mounting boss on the lower triple tree.  Anybody know if it was designed there for this purpose?
