I think it's nice and professional of the machine shop to measure the bores for you Tyler, after they honed them.

Glad to see you're back, hope your back is doing better. I'm finally getting back in my garage after the winter freeze (my garage door literally freezes shut.) First day of Spring was yesterday and ironically enough it snowed 6 inches.

Thanks man, Actually stalled again waiting for my engine to be reassembled! But when its finished this bike is going to go back together as soon as humanly possible. Hopefully I have it next week. In the meantime I have been working on the purple 550 I stole the engine out of for this project.  Swapped in a 78 engine and some low bars, Just need to fine tune a little and ill be selling that before summer starts!

SO in the mists of waiting for my motor to be completed, I started reassembling the other 550 I plan to sell before summer.  Its the 74 I took the motor out of for myself, and swapped in a 77 motor and carbs.  Well Last night I went and got the carbs back on and installed new throttle cables.  Only problem is I cannot for the life of me figure out the Pull throttle cable.

It doesn't look like it could fit at all in any way.  Am I missing something or did they send me the wrong cable?  When the adjustment is in cable holder on the carb there is no way to make the end of the cable fit into the throttle body on the carb.  Basically even without the cable on the throttle I still need at least 3 more inches to make the end fit into the throttle body, unless Im missing something I assume I have been given the wrong cable??

Tyler,
The new throttle cables you have, are they for the older 74' carbs? compared to your 77' carbs you're installing..

77K throttle cable has twice the free cable than the 500 or 77F

No a local shop is, I didn't want to risk not doing it right, but they have taken over a month now so I'm beginning to wish I had just done it.  Yep apparently its common issue that only gets fixed if you buy Honda Brand Cables ::)

Sometimes shops take a bit of time, but in the end, a good shop is worth the wait. Plus, you can get the added benefit of having them be responsible for a problem that rears its head.

I'm having a buddy who owns and runs a shop, cover me on an engine. Too much custom stuff in it for my at home abilities. I get to be hands on, and participate, but in the end, I pay, he owes.  :)

Finally got the call that my engine was finished but as I'm sure you guys have heard Baltimore has been nuts these past 2 weeks so I couldn't get it from the shop!  But I finally did the other day and got right to work!  Allen Bolts and high heat VHT Primer and Paint. I thinks it tuned out well!

Bad news is I was attempting to install the new ALL BALLS Bearings in the triple and installed the top race upside down and had to side drill it out to get it out of the frame. So now I need to order a new kit and Have someone who knows what they are doing  help me because I was very confused. So now the engine is going to have to wait till I can get bearings installed.

So much stuff going on in my shop recently collecting parts for my next build ( Modern Cafe 550 ) and Monday I am headed to New York to pickup a free load of vintage bike parts that include a 75 Cb750 "Mostly Complete " so that will be take up more space!

Aslo In the meantime while waiting for the engine I have been getting the other 550, 74 with a 77 engine in it ready and cleaned up to sell!  Its about time to tie the knot with my girlfriend and hopefully this will pay for a nice ring! If I can sell it!

Things should start rolling now, Ill keep everyone updated!

I'll look it up! And if you have one that would save me from buying a entire kit just for one race!

Got the last bit of paint on the engine tonight, New rubber boots and some clamps, Looks pretty good if i do say so!

Since my post I had a few people asking me if I wanted to sell some parts they noticed in the pictures, For now all these are for me and my next build :)

I have most of the parts for this bike lined up ready to go! As soon as I get a new race and can install the triple it will all go back together as fast as my hands can move! Newly painted fork lowers ( Im not a huge fan of Polished ), New coil wires spliced into the original coil pack with NGK splicers and new NGK plug caps!

Nope I'm selling that one. It's the green 500i had that lost its transmission  but I swapped in a 74 550 motor. I'm actually going to repaint it though. I love the planet blue metallic but can't justify the price of that remade paint. I heard rumors that Acura makes a paint similar to that I may just try that and see what happens!

Sadly none:( I sold my 350f back in December. Didn't want to but I don't have a ton of room and needed to step up bigger anyway. Went to a good home and got a very nice chunk of change for her.
