Hi Tyler,
The machine shop is making you wait, that can happen.
How're you doing ?

Im doing fine besides the wait i didn't realize that was normal, I feel like I have so so much to do and am beginning to get behind, I think things will pickup when I get the engine back in the frame.

Alright guys, sorry for not being very active. right now i am recovering from a back surgery and can't do to much.  I did get a call from the machine shop telling me that they had to send my head and jugs out because they couldn't do it there.   But they informed me I would have them by next week mot likely.  They will be replacing the valve seals as well as cleaning, porting an lightly honing the jugs.  I also ordered a complete gasket kit. plug wires and connectors, all new cables, All Balls Bearings, Break lines, Carb rebuild kits, and fuel lines.

In the mean time from waiting for my engine I have been working on getting the other 550 I plan to sell ready,  Swapped in the 77 motor and carbs because I took the 74 out for myself.  Cleaned out the gas tank and carbs but I need to carb intake rubber boots before I try and fire it up:( I took the rear wheel for myself as well as it was the correct size and my other bike had a huge ugly harley rim.  So I put that on this one to compete it.  I think it should be able to sell without problems.  I have also got a mostly complete 77 550 parts bike if anyone needs anything I havnt taken off yet let me know!

Its alright just in the recovery process now and as anyone will tell you it sucks very much!  Yep that wheel rim combo was driving me crazy I'm glad I scored that other 550 to replace it with!  Now to decide on tires!

Got my top end and jugs back, I'll post pics a little later. I asked them to hone the jugs to ease breaking in the piston rings and on the receipt its stated " cylinder hone 58.55MM " is this  normal? I'm away from my honda repair book right now but I thought I would ask now.

Glad to see you're back, hope your back is doing better. I'm finally getting back in my garage after the winter freeze (my garage door literally freezes shut.) First day of Spring was yesterday and ironically enough it snowed 6 inches.

Thanks man, Actually stalled again waiting for my engine to be reassembled! But when its finished this bike is going to go back together as soon as humanly possible. Hopefully I have it next week. In the meantime I have been working on the purple 550 I stole the engine out of for this project.  Swapped in a 78 engine and some low bars, Just need to fine tune a little and ill be selling that before summer starts!

SO in the mists of waiting for my motor to be completed, I started reassembling the other 550 I plan to sell before summer.  Its the 74 I took the motor out of for myself, and swapped in a 77 motor and carbs.  Well Last night I went and got the carbs back on and installed new throttle cables.  Only problem is I cannot for the life of me figure out the Pull throttle cable.

It doesn't look like it could fit at all in any way.  Am I missing something or did they send me the wrong cable?  When the adjustment is in cable holder on the carb there is no way to make the end of the cable fit into the throttle body on the carb.  Basically even without the cable on the throttle I still need at least 3 more inches to make the end fit into the throttle body, unless Im missing something I assume I have been given the wrong cable??

Tyler,
The new throttle cables you have, are they for the older 74' carbs? compared to your 77' carbs you're installing..

77K throttle cable has twice the free cable than the 500 or 77F

nope I ordered new ones for a 77. I dread one other guy had this issue and recommend going with honda cables, I guess I'll give it a shot!

No a local shop is, I didn't want to risk not doing it right, but they have taken over a month now so I'm beginning to wish I had just done it.  Yep apparently its common issue that only gets fixed if you buy Honda Brand Cables ::)

Finally got the call that my engine was finished but as I'm sure you guys have heard Baltimore has been nuts these past 2 weeks so I couldn't get it from the shop!  But I finally did the other day and got right to work!  Allen Bolts and high heat VHT Primer and Paint. I thinks it tuned out well!

Bad news is I was attempting to install the new ALL BALLS Bearings in the triple and installed the top race upside down and had to side drill it out to get it out of the frame. So now I need to order a new kit and Have someone who knows what they are doing  help me because I was very confused. So now the engine is going to have to wait till I can get bearings installed.

So much stuff going on in my shop recently collecting parts for my next build ( Modern Cafe 550 ) and Monday I am headed to New York to pickup a free load of vintage bike parts that include a 75 Cb750 "Mostly Complete " so that will be take up more space!

Aslo In the meantime while waiting for the engine I have been getting the other 550, 74 with a 77 engine in it ready and cleaned up to sell!  Its about time to tie the knot with my girlfriend and hopefully this will pay for a nice ring! If I can sell it!

Things should start rolling now, Ill keep everyone updated!
