If it's only firing on 2 cylinders, I'd expect it to rattle like that. Until you have all 4 running, impossible to diagnose engine noise.

Ill get her on 4 and report back. I appreciate you being Patient with my questions!

Electric Starter working! Yellow wire was corroded behind the bullet connector as if it filled with water at some point and sat there. Simple trim back and replace connector. Thats one down :)

I think you're going to find Cal is right regarding 1 & 4 cylinders.  I don't believe in coincidences very often so the fact that the 2 cylinders that share a spark from the same coil aren't working tells me there's a problem somewhere between the coil and the spark plug.  Check to make sure the wires to the back of the coil are making solid connections.  I SWORE that mine were right but then when I pulled them off to re-attach them, I realized that one of them had been pinched and was causing the short.  Once I fixed that issue, those two cylinders started right up.

Found the front brake issue tonight, Seal is broken. Not sure how it happened but I can only assume it was during installation the lip of the piston must have grabbed it. Anyone have any tips for not repeating this process?

Super clean, lots of fluid and a slow easy push. If it don't slide in real easy take it out and start again

Been in a bit of a rut recently between the front breaks and the motor this past few weeks, I had my Carbs rebuilt by a local shop who I should have gone to the first time. Fresh rebuild kits and fuel lines and they look great! This turned out to be the cause of only running on 2 cylinders. Good new is she's firing on all 4 now.

Bad news is that while starting the bike up to test everything I am again hearing the top end tapping noise. I am thinking its a valve hitting the top of the piston. Sounds like its the number 1 cylinder. From what I read this is most likely the cause or possibly the Cam Chain is loose but I doubt it. The carbs also need to be vacuums synced. I attached a video so you can try and hear the noise I'm talking about. Have not run it anymore since.....

And since I had everything available to do so, and was feeling down about the ticking noise and not being able to ride I decided to see what she would look like with everything back on :)

That sounds like exhaust gasket leak to me

Tyler - use the "Mechanics Stethoscope" and locate the noise. It could easily be an exhaust leak too. If your valves are properly adjusted, they're not hitting the piston. Especially at idle. That's nearly impossible with a half decent running motor by the way...

More likely cam chain, vacuum synch or an exhaust leak. But the screwdriver in your ear will tell you best which it is.

Cam chain is tight, and I replaced all the exhaust gaskets so I don't know how there could be a leak. I will check the valve clearance again though. Bike starts right up but that noise has me worried....

Just because you replaced the gaskets, doesn't mean the flange is snug.

that makes sense, Ill check that out tomorrow as well. Just sucks because Im so close and this is holding me back, but i would rather be careful and not mess something up inside the engine.

I said it before, i sold a 550 and later fitted an aftermarket exhaust for the buyer, when he brought it back for a service i spent 2 hours repeatedly doing the tappet clearances to find that one exhaust flange just needed nipping up by about 1 turn on each nut( that had new gaskets as well)

Thank you to everyone for the tips, It was indeed valve clearance issues and a full carb vacuum sync that did the trick! no more tick!  sounds good and quick throttle response! Only issue I am having now is the petcock not flowing on the right side outlet.

I have a 500 tank running a 500 petcock with the 2 outlets. The right one is hardly dripping starving the bike of gas and causing issues. Tomorrow Im going to clean out the new petcock and see what happens. Dos anyone have any other tips or possible causes??.

Doing the whole Tag and Title thing tomorrow so expect a few more daytime pictures!

Sometimes with low fuel in tank one side will stop first, no idea why but have had it happen.

Feels good to get it finished tho' don't it

The tank was full and when I disconnected the lines still only one side would flow and it was leaking in the off position as well. With a full tank and the lid open or closed. Never buying K and L petcocks again. I have overnighted a honda one for tomorrow so we'll see if that helps!
