Dropped my XL350
« on: August 13, 2014, 10:03:41 PM »
Was out at the Vintage flattrack in the cornfield .
Maybe it was just years of dumb luck, that I always stayed upright.. Even a lot of times, when I thought, I was going down...but managed to ride it out..

Or maybe it was just that I mentioned to those chick's that I never wiped out there, over many times out.

Any way I second I am riding, next second, on my way down..quick..no chance to react.
At first I thought I broke my finger but it seems ok,  just lacerations and the end split open. But my Knee took a hard hit. I was able to walk soon after but soon the swelling started. That was Sat afternoon, pics that night.

I was thinking after the fenderbashing we would not see a thread about dropping a bike ever again.

Ugh, sorry to see a brother beat up like that, hope it don't hurt like heck today!
I am no joint specialist, but hope it was well iced and immobilized asap following the mishap. I guess the transition from ice to heat needs to be after any potential swelling has occurred, meaning if you can keep from putting stress on it, you can transition sooner. My way out of date, and vaguely remembered training suggests that cold restricts vascularity, reducing swelling in an injured area initially, while heat opens vessels and allows reduction of swelling once the acute reaction to the injury has passed.

Would be good to know if you were wearing any protective gear, and how effective it was?
P.S. although your title suggests it, I am glad your report is not like the other recent dropped thread!

I bonked my knee pretty good a couple months ago, Not as easy to do as when I was 19.

Don't mess around with anything less than the 800 ibuprophens and they say don't take more than three a day.

Looks a bit better now, four days later.  A lot less swollen, but I keep cracking the scab from riding my bicycles.
Strange to thing was, the scab part was always cool.. As if it had ice on it..
I had no padding and the redparts are friction burns thru my pants.
My fingers are a little sore,  but the cuts are healing nicely, at least I didn't have to sit thru getting sewn up..

I wouldn't usually respond here Dave, but billiard legs seems like an unusual comparator. Were you looking down on these legs or admiring them from the floor? ;D
