Hi everyone. Bit of a lurker around here but first time poster..
I'm very keen on converting a cb750 to a cafe racer however the only ones available near me are not in a great state...
My question is, is restoring and converting one a particularly difficult job for a not-so experienced hobbyist mechanic? Its always been an ambition but I'd like to know the challenges that await!
Thanks for any help in advance

With manual and Hondaman book and help from this forum (almost) anyone can do it.
More people not finish their project because they run out of motivation than because they realize it is beyond their abilities.

I second Calj's full post...especially the budget part.
When I did mine I knew what I wanted out of it and ballparked a budget. It was even a fairly generous budget....that I promptly blew by about $3k.
Can you do it? Absolutely! I think everyone has the capability to restore one of these.
Will it be cheap? F no! I could easily buy a brand new bike for what I have in mine...but it is pretty much brand new at this point :-D
Will it be frustrating? yeahp
But at the end of it you'll have something to look back at and be proud of. My $.02.

And a cafe bikes should be those that you built from junkers, not breaking down perfect stockers

Go for it man ! You will learn so much in the process and make many friends.
I second the views on budget, it can sometimes be like a money pit, but WTF life ain't a dress rehearsal and there's no pockets in shrouds.
