Sexy Italian Sister..oh lordy.
« on: August 15, 2014, 07:12:52 AM »
The Monster S2R needed a sister. Found one.  ;)

I have been quite busy. Sold the Scooter yesterday (in 3 hours) and first of the month sold the CBX. Could not resist the price. 73 year old gentleman in Montana. Nice thing about it is his Winter home is in Tucson, AZ and he won't pick up until November. He told me to keep it fresh. You bet I will.

So with a boat load of cash there was no reason to keep some of it in the bank. Life is short. Real short.

So another Italian girl enters the Shop. Not until the end of October, maybe sooner. Let's just say a 2007 model with 252 original miles. Serviced twice.  ;D Fuel tank coated when new so no expansion issues. Needs tires and maybe a few billet parts. I know, but I plan on keeping this as stock as possible. In my eyes it doesn't need a thing. I know, I know but Carbon Fiber wheels would make it pop since it's black and silver.

Inspection tomorrow and cash money for purchase.

Got a call from Seller last night. Inspection moved to mid week now.  :(

So, I'll use the pictures from the open house in June. Bike has since been detailed but tires still need replacing.

I don't have a right side picture so here are a few taken from the net. The one I'm buying, or hope to, already has the CAT delete pipe installed.  8)

That's a real beauty. Pass on the CF wheels, and step up to some Kineos!

Those are sweet! Actually I just posted the wheels in fun. Way expensive.

The bike looks good to me just the way it is. Some nice CNC Billet reservoir covers and ASV levers down the road. Tires first. I put Dunlop Q3's on the Ducati but feel I need a tire with a little more tread. Undecided. Maybe Michelin Pilots.

This bike is way above my riding skills and will never see it's full potential but I don't think I will ever find another this clean. MV just doesn't bring many bikes to the States and yearly production numbers are low compared to others.

I missed out on this gem by two days. Although it was the 2006 S model the price was very fair. Sold in one day, had new tires and 11K on the clock. Still shaking my head on hat one.

The one that got away.

I've always preferred spokes with tube frames. I think box frames support mags well, but the symmetry of trellis frames with wire wheels just looks really sweet to me.

Those Kineo wheels are extra trick. Tubeless, modern spokes on billet hubs. Many options for anodizing and fitment too. Someday... :-\

Heck, I'm having a hard time justifying the purchase. Don't really need another motorcycle but lordy, lordy it's sweet.

Hard to justify not buying such a beauty, TT. I get it, perhaps you've lots of bikes and maybe some other rainy day needs, but something that moves your passions so much is always been a sound purchase in my experience.

I don't buy a lot of things. But this I do buy, I am passionate about. And the cost doesn't deter me. I just make sure it's what I truly want, that way I know I will never look back and say, "I should not have bought that". For example;

Years back, driving one night with the wife to go skiing. Remarked about how "this road would be so much more fun behind the wheel of a 360 Modena...". After some explaining, she says, "If that's what you want, buy it. I don't care." Well, two days later, I'm traveling to NC and make room in my schedule to stop into the Ferrari dealership (now that I have the Warden's blessing and all). Really thought I wanted one. Ended up, after some time looking, examining, and driving a few, realized I didn't. So I left.

But instead, I bought a really special to me shotgun. I love that thing, and it's like a child of mine. I use it constantly, for years, and spend really precious time with great friends during its use. So it all comes back to what are you passionate about? That's where you put your time and money.

When you go look at it, you'll know clearly. If you do, good on you! If you don't, something else will come your way that will stir you. It's what life is about in my opinion-

Very good points. I sold two (2) bikes and some parts, well, lot's of parts actually. Put together some serious cash in the process for my "bike" fund if you will.

The first time I saw this bike it was "how much?" Ryan said I just bought it, not for sale. I just stared at the Italian craftsmanship. I am on Bellissi Moto's mailing list and one day bikes for sale came up. There it was but at a ridiculous price. Way above book but in this case "book value" is out the window. I have seen these all over the place.

With some wheeling and dealing I got the price down 2K. Still, it's over high book but I have to take things in consideration.

1) 252 miles, spotless but needs tires. Couldn't get that in the deal.

2) It's a private sale. No sales tax.

3) In the deal they will display the bike until it cools down and install the tires and any upgrades I would want.

4) Deliver the bike to me in an enclosed trailer.

5) The cost of new, depending on the model, ranges from 16K to 22.5K for the Corsa model. (1090cc)

I'm still passionate about the bike, will never find a cleaner example and it's the "R" model, not the "S" model. Hope to get up there tomorrow. Need to look at some S2R parts also.

They do move you.

Only live once toy.
Do you shoot skeet or trap Cal ?  My late father and I spent some good times shooting together at the range and small game bird hunting when he was able.

Skeet, Sporting Clays, Fitasc, Pigeons, and birds. Especially love the bird hunting. Have been fortunate enough to travel many places in the world to do it. I'd rather walk 10 miles behind a beautiful pointer working and never pull the trigger, than do just about anything else.

Raised my boys alongside on those outings. They still (even yesterday as we worked on a bike together) recounted their memories from being quite young on some of those outings. Remembered specific dogs, meals, and jokes played (as immature older men do to each other whilst hunting).

I've a very good friend who used to be from up your way, Ek, Larry Woo. He's now moved to Ohio and left behind the world of competitive clays. Top notch guy in my book.

Sorry, TT. I'm with you, those Italian ladies stir emotions deeper than Brasilian beach models... I've always coveted, yes coveted, the Bimota Supermono. I way too tall and broad to ever fit on one, but I've had $25k set aside to lump down on one since it came out in the hopes I'd do the Lily Tomlin (incredible shrinking thing) and end up fitting atop one.

I'm sure that when I walk in the door I will head right to it. They have a 2004 999 that has had over 30K thrown at it. Motor work and all. I love that one for $8200.00. Got Randy down on that one also. A lot of crazy right there but my heart is on the Brutale.

Problem is that I'm to old to ride one very far.  :D It's a ton of bike for the money.

Not sure about your area but I am friends with a fellow here who owns the local Ducati and Triumph dealership. His wife recently blurted out that sales this year were down 30-40% over last year and that was a poor year also.  May be some very good deals around on used bikes from these folks to try and keep some merchandise turning.

An 1100 Monster just showed up locally on CL.     Hmmm, maybe I should've held out for one of those.
