Making good progress today. Yesterday I received the logger and chips. Got it installed without any issues.
Today I installed the fuel tank, added fuel and checked the sweep of the instruments before firing. I also hung the ecu off the side of the bike for trim pot adjustments. (Painters tape on the frame to prevent damage)
One of the many changes to the chip was lowering the fan kick in temp. Stock is 194 degrees which by then it's already on the hot side. We changed this to 181 degrees which might be a little low. 185 should be about right but that can easily be changed at a later time.
First I ran a log file as is. Bike fired right up, idled fine. The afr reading for trim pot adjustments is when the fans kick in, thus 181. A reading of 11.2. We need 13.2 +/-. Ran the bike up to 194 degrees, no issues.
Next, I let the bike cool with the aid of a floor fan after which it was time to adjust the trim. With flash light in hand and a very small ceramic screwdriver it was time. Deep breath, get some courage. There is only a 270 degree sweep and I was told by more than one person to go slow. Any damage here is a replacement ecu. Oh Lordy!
Turn clockwise, slowly..a little more..oh, too much, back off a bit, then got an reading of 13.2 plus or minus a few at idle. Ignition off! Big sigh! It's set!
Sent the two log files over to Adam in the UK. He came back after reading the last file saying that of 2016 cells the average was 13.1. Leave it, assemble and ride it. He needs cell readings across the entire range but I doubt I'll get it over 9k.
Tomorrow is button up day. Remove the tank (again), install the ecu on the air box then reinstall the fuel tank. After that will see when I ride it. On the second run I let it get up to 209 degrees. No miss, no stalling and sounded better than it ever has.
I'm hopeful today.
