Motor is going back together on the chop now.
Between graduating (I is engineer now), middle of a move and some unforeseen issues with the motor I have lost most of this season.
Still plugging away.

I was messing around with it.
Have a drive plate and shaft for a 550.
But the mag body doesn't seem to clear.  I'm using some 750 parts in there so that might be the issue.  Once the bike is back together I'll see about messing with it again.  I wanted mostly for the "?" Factor.

I have an RC drive I've been saving for a drag bike.

I have to dig deeper into it to figure out what the issue is.
They used a million different parts from all over on these so who knows what "original"

Bill,

How's the 750 running with the ARD mag.  That's some old school cool.

it runs very well with the webers and the ard,I was told that it would be hard to kick and might bite me aka kick back but it starts with kick or the button but you got to watch that you do not give it too much fuel or it will fire in the pipe ,big bang!the webers have no choke so it has to be warmed a little other than that it is a vast improvement over stock carbs!you want to nominate an unfinished bike sean?ok with me,so the point I am trying to make is anyone thinking about doing this is it will not make your bike any harder to ride and you never have to worry about a dead battery!I love this old stuff!754 made me want webers!thanks for the interest this is my first 750 build, bill

working on 836, then finished?...as far as I am concerned as it sits now, the Webers, ARD, and cool '70's street racer vibe make it better than most that I have seen lately

it will change over time but maybe I am too close to see what others see this bike is finished for most people but yes I do want to know what a cammed and bored 750 feels like.want a more hot rod style tank and seat as well but the seat you see is from a 360 and is shorter and very comfy so we will see .also going to try an rc header for that old look.

I will keep following this thread until you have more pics and documentation, as that seems to be some very important things for winning botm.  I love what you got going on though, especially that seat.  I am not crazy about the 77/78k tank, early k with some custom paint would be awesome.  But hey, I bet you know what you want and you got it going on real good already.  RC pipe? oh yeah!

Ya Bill that's a #$%*'n look! I'm sure those pipes are killer too.  My first 750 had I think it was Kirker 4-1 and it came with a Cherry Bomb style muffler and an optional megaphone! I used to make late night runs down Hwy 9 from Boulder Creek to Santa Cruz, scraping pegs and the sound of the phone bounced off the canyon walls it was awesome.  Of course I would never do that today?  Good work Bill

the shorty pipes are a set of nos kooks headers that I picked up in my hometown ,that was the only 750 part he had,go figure!they have baffles and are not offensive by Harley standards but with the open intakes on the webers the bike has a sound all its own,and yeah the webers do make the bike sound more aggressive in a good way!thanks greg and don!I have been playing with this bike for 3 years it started as a café until I saw the pics of all the 70s hotrods and reading about things I had never heard of.bill

I've decided to go with the NOS glass front fender and stock brace , and it's looking good. I've ordered a brace for the fork legs off Carpy , that way I keep with the authentic 70s look , cos I can definately remember seeing those type of braces back in the day .

What brace did you order?  If I remember correctly, he was selling a "tweak bar" not a fork brace. A proper fork brace will mount to the lowers and the tweak bar mounts on the tubes, was used mostly on choppers with extended front ends.

http://www.fastfromthepast.com/servlet/the-521/Fork-Brace-Honda-CB750/Detail[/url
Your right mate they are "tweak bars" , but they will help , and bear in mind that I am also using the stock brace as the mount for my glass fender . I don't plan on doing any hard braking so I don't envisage any problems, and they do look suitably "vintage" when fitted .

hey greg how are you did you get your fork brace?the one that 754 makes is old school too.put my rc header on today it was a little fight but I won!thought I had it tight but I blew it right off the head on my run around the block!when I stopped in my driveway there were flames out the pipes about 6 or 8ins long from the air being sucked into the exhaust and mixing with the fuel.looked like a jet!bill

Hi Bill . I'm well , yes the brace which Frank made looks spot on , unfortunatley I couldn't see how I could incorperate my glass front fender using that design of brace .However, I may do something similar in the future , the problem is that I'm already seeing where I can make substantial improvements to the rolling chassis . I'll get this one finished , use it next year and in the meantime try and pick up a "K" frame( then I don't have to spend so much time fabricating all the brackets for sidepanels etc etc ) to modify and just transfere everything from one to the other . Regards Greg "H"
