yeah Frank I was thinking with an extended swingarm they might work,I am stlll playing with the swingarm I have but not sure about it,it leaves the pivot bolt bare in the centre.might end up doing it the oldschool way.bill

Along the lines of an extended swingarm, maybe you can try fitting up a 550 swingarm (about 2" over 750), and see how that works with those shocks.

2 inches over a stock 78 Don?bill

Not entirely certain on that Bill.  The frame on the 77-78 CB750K is slightly longer than the 69-76 CB750K models.  Overall, the frame on the later K7-K8 is 4.2 inches longer.  The wheelbase on the K7-K8 is 2.6" longer.  It was my understanding that was attributed to a longer frame, but that the swingarms are of equal length -- and that the 550 swingarms are approximately 2" longer.  I would wait for someone to chime in as to just the frame length dimensions and swingarm dimensions.  My CB750K2 frame is at my fabricator's shop.

The 550 swingarms are generally 2" longer than the 750 swingarms.  It would appear from your observation that they are not 2" over the 77-78 K swingarms.

Does anyone have a 69-76 750K and a 550 handy to measure up the swingarms???  My CB750K7 swingarm measures up at approximately 22.5" -- a rough measurement as it is mounted up.

Biggest problem I found on the road. Was parking...or more like...other bikes parking close and making it harder to get out. I want to go to 4.5 from 6 over.
What I did like is that you could go no hands from 50 mph to about 10 or 15.... If you downshifted without the clutch..

yes mick it will be a road going bike,I do not expect it to be a corner carver,I was never much for going around corners fast anyway, but I do like some nice straight line quick shifts through the gears,I am after the look as much as anything and will change my driving to the bike.never had something like this so just gotta try it!my other bike is a sportster with a fatboy front end and 16ins tires ,it is not a bike you want to take a sportbike on with!!hahabill

Should look great Bill ;) . I have to agree with Franks comments regarding the only limitation being manoeuvring the bike in confined spaces .  I ran a long wheelbase street/strip  bike on the street which also ran lock stops ( to meet race regulations) which made it a pain to get out of the shed, or push around when parking .
Incidentally that bike was so quick it would waste anything in a straight line , so I used to just slow for corners ,then blow their doors off on the next straight . Happy days  ;D ;D
