« on: August 16, 2014, 03:56:04 PM »

Looking sweet, Bill.  That color paint and the ARD mag really stand out.  What type of carbs are you running?

My bike is running good. Albeit I still have a minor oil leak despite attempting to reseal it last winter.  :-[

Oh and I had a fuel leak that ruined my paint.

Arg. Oh well. At least I can still ride it.

Hi Bill . Good looking bike , with a great looking motor . That carb/mag combo has got to be the ultimate look for those motors 8). I havn't given up completely on fitting webbers to my bike , it just seems that getting my hands on a suitable manifold is a major stumbling block , and it's probably easier just to fit some Kiehins or Mikunis. I notice that you have fitted a fork brace , is that a non standard front fender . I ask because I'm currently trying to source a fork brace which will clear my glassfibre front fender which is mounted to a stock (and very flexy) fork brace . Regards Greg "H"

That looks like a Tarozzi brace.

That brace fits late style legs, not early.  The homemade braces we built with the two bars across would look ok on the old style dragbikes. Can run you thru the process.

Bill when you ride it and the accelerators start squirting when you are at around 3,000rpm.  Tell us what you think of the throttle response..

this thing comes alive at anything over 3000 rpm even though it is a stocker ,it sounds meek until you get on the gas and then changes sound rapidly kinda like music!Greg that is a tarriozi fork brace for the 78 I haven't checked to see if they make one for the earlier bikes.the front fender is Yamaha off an older rd it has a squarer section than the Honda it is there because I could not find a good Honda one in my salt air infested climate that rusts things.also I should add that these motors must be more forgiving than an old single for kick starting with full advance ,no kicking back whatsoever!and if you watch the spark on a plug when you kick it ,it is big and has an audible snap!bill ps greg I did not think in a million years I would find webers but I did and you could too!

Bill,

Fast from the Past's website is a little confusing as to which particular Tarozzi model fits the 77-78 CB750K forks. Is it the same model that fits the F models?

I didn't think that front fender was of a Honda . I've fitted an 18ins front wheel and have lowered the stock brace to get it nearer to the tyre . I really want to use my glass front fender because it's a NOS part which I bought off Cavebear a while back , but even with it being lowered ,and by checking photos of a Tarrozi brace fitted to johnos bike it looks like it would be debatable whether it would work out on my F1 forks . I'm tempted to just order one and just see how it goes  ::).

there are two diff ones for the late bikes one for the f and onr for the k,I would think that fast from the past would be helpful.I woud use the nos fender if I had it too!there must be a member or two that has one on their pre 78?bill

I've decided to go with the NOS glass front fender and stock brace , and it's looking good. I've ordered a brace for the fork legs off Carpy , that way I keep with the authentic 70s look , cos I can definately remember seeing those type of braces back in the day .

yes greg I know the brace that you are looking at and they were around then.the one I have is a modern piece but it sure makes a diff even around town ,I did not think it would do a lot for a non racer but you can feel it,always checking in on your build it is interesting!bill

What brace did you order?  If I remember correctly, he was selling a "tweak bar" not a fork brace. A proper fork brace will mount to the lowers and the tweak bar mounts on the tubes, was used mostly on choppers with extended front ends.

Bill and Stevo,

You are correct:
http://www.cb750cafe.com/products-page/steering/alloy-fork-brace/

The Tarozzi (available from Fast from the Past), Telefix and Tkat braces all attach to the fork lowers/stanchions.
