Well, I picked up my K6 last October. She ran fine, but the 70's hadn't been good to her cosmetically.

I spent the winter rebuilding wheels, forks, swingarm, and swapping out rusty parts. I added repop early style lights, Avon Roadriders, a Carpy pipe and Ikon shocks. The idea was to only use period correct "appearing" parts, save for the Avons and the CRG mirror.

Definitely not a Concours restoration, and up close she starts to show her age, but she's a rider and I don't worry if something gets scratched or scuffed. I wanted a 750 to ride, enjoy and not worry about, and this K6 fills the bill!

I bought this bike back in 1980 when I was a senior in high school.  I rode the crap out of it until 1989.  I ended up parking it in the barn at the family farm until I pulled it out the winter of 2012.  So here is what it looked like the day I brought it home for a "quick" restoration. :-)  Or so I thought.

I hope this is not too long winded.

It was a little dirty and rusty

I blasted and powder coated all the smaller pieces

had the hardware plated and plated some myself

new guage faces

Recovered a torn NOS seat that I found on ebay

Found a little hole in the engine cases which precipitated a tear down of the engine

Good thing I tore it down, because there was a lot of metal floating around in the engine

long story short,  I replaced a lot of stuff in the engine, had the cases welded up, did some painting, polishing, and wrenching.

Had a nasty little dent in the tank so I pulled it out, filled a little with lead body filler and painted the tins.  It was the first time with Candy paint for me.  What a learning curve.

A year and a half later I ended up with this.

Nice 750s!  Not to diminish the red K6, but I especially like the gold K1 - wow!

Just a few shots of the Blue Blaster.

I found a couple pics of when I started the project.  Was a very good starter bike - so I had a bit of an easier build.

Gotta admit, I voted for Ed's K1. The build was really thorough, and add in the back story and history with the bike, well.... Plus, Candy Gold is my favorite Honda color. I almost painted my K6 in it, but the purest in me won out. :)

Thanks, Guys!

First of all, EricHa and Blackfin....I enjoyed reading both of your builds.  Very nice bikes! Secondly, if it were not for all the help and support of this forum, I never would have ended up with a bike  nearly as nice as this.  There were many builds that were an inspiration to me and I certainly learned a ton.
