Hello from Australia
« on: August 14, 2014, 06:40:09 PM »
Recently joined the Forum, I have a pretty much original unmolested 1971 CB500 which I am just going over at the moment and I will be putting it on club plates. Also have a 1972 CB750 in bits so that will be getting a total rebuild so I hope to get into that soon.

In my late teens I did own a couple of Honda's CB750-4 K1, K2 and I did enjoy those machines the CB750 K1 was my first road bike, then came a couple of Kawasaki Z1 900's always remember all these types of bikes new in the showroom, also would be great if they still sold for the same price as old bikes are so expensive now. Can remember when a CB750 was so cheap and some guys would just give them away.
Would be nice if I still had all my old bikes from years ago.

Welcome. Would love to see pics of the 500 and do start a separate thread in the "Projects" section on your 750.

Shame there's no one from Oz who knows a bloody thing about these bikes around to help if you have questions...?   ;)

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of it's victim may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated, but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." - C.S. Here are some photos of the 1971 CB500/4
With a bit of a clean up it should look great, going to polish the alloy parts, also have to replace the Fork Gaiters and new tyres.
Pul the carbs off fully disassemble them and clean replace gaskets and o-rings polish all the alloy parts on the carbs also.
Then it should be ready for club rego, as it is an unmolested bike I am going to keep it original as it should be :-)
