Topic: Cb550 rocker arm shafts

Re-assembling my top end components in preparation for assembly. When i took my tappets off from the valve cover, the shafts that tge tappets pivot on just pulled out. Does anything hold them in there after i put them back in?

Depends what year what it is?
Earlier models just pushed in, later models had locking pins holding the shafts in place. You can find some info on this thread, there are pictures of the two types.

Thanks for that. Looks like i have the older cover. My shafts just drop in.
