1975 CB750F speedo cable at hub
« on: August 22, 2014, 01:26:09 PM »
Just putting wheel back on after new tire installation and want to make sure everything is cool before going for a ride.
I don't have a book for the 750. The pdf shop manual I downloaded from here doesn't address my question that I can see.
Is there a trick or anything to look out for with the speedo  cable section of the hub? It seems to float freely and reconnecting the cable after putting the wheel back on was very straightforward.

But I remember awhile back on my 74 550 that the cable broke because it was not connected properly at the hub after a tire change at the garage. In that case it looked fine until I drove away from the garage and then the mechanism at the wheel hub rotated and broke the cable. The hub section for the speedo on the 550 ( a '74 550K) was not a free floating mechanism but needed to lock into position.

So is the same here with the '75 CB750F? Is it a free floating section of the hub or is it supposed to lock into place and accept the cable?
