CB 550 in a Cb 125 Chassis
« on: February 25, 2011, 09:51:35 PM »
Hi iam new to this whole forum thing and to really customizing motorcycles but am an avid 4x4 customizer hehe. Alright my goal is to put a cb 550 engine into a cb 125 chassis. Has any one ever attempted a build similar to this? If so please post pictures. Oh and are these engines good and quick?

Not a good idea.
Is your insurance paid up or do you intend to kill someone else?  :D

I have two CB 125's and a CB 750 amongst other bikes in my garage...
Honestly to me your idea sounds potentially hazardous.
Depends on the model etc. but CB 250 engine is almost a direct bolt-on torque adder for the little Honda.
I know it ain't what you after, you really want something different and bloody dangerous and I see your point, just don't like to see people get killed riding their contraptions  ;D

Are you talking about putting a Cb250 twin in a 125s or the older twin 125? I have a 125s and wouldnt mind dropping in a 250 if it would actually fit

I'm talking about the CB 125 twin.
My brother had a 1983 CB 125 TD and I put a 250 Nighthawk engine in it.

I think he is just trying to assemble free/cheap parts into a Frankenstein bastard.

I think he would be better off putting the engine in a bar stool.

Until they were banned, back in the 70's, lot of people put CB125 forks on Honda drag bikes (so a friend who used to sponsor racers tells me)
After a few snapped off, they were not allowed to be used, being too lightweight (so they went to 33mm CB350 forks  ;D)

The kz 400 in the KZ frame is by far the fatest. Fix it up, it will be a great bike for ya.

The only way that would work is if you could find an old 125 race frame which should be able to handle the power, but will you be able to shoehorn a four in. There is a race series in the UK/Europe which uses 500cc singles and some use old 125 race frames.
