2240:60 speedometer in KPH - somewhere in EU
« on: August 28, 2014, 01:55:18 AM »
Hi all!

I'm currently working on an old CB550k3 fra 1977, and I need a new smaller speedometer.
My google skills tells me that the ratio is 2240:60 or 7:1.

Where in europe do I find a speedometer that reads in KPH, and is not overpriced.
There are a lot for 50$ in the states, but I'm done paying for tax and vat for getting it shipped to Denmark where i live.

Anyone know anything?

Kind regards
Jannick

Difficult to find under 100 Euros.
Maybe someone on this forum can ship one as a gift ?  (No extra fees at customs)
Shipment might cost $20-40US

Here you go: http://www.ebay.com/itm/271526440251?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
Don't know about the quality though. But I will be ordering one myself in near future...
I bought a similar kind of speedometer with white background a year ago from other eebay seller. The needle on that speedo bounces badly. Hopefully this is better.

Is 1400:60 km/h the same as a speedo with 2240:60 mph?
12$ isn't much, I can't imagine the quality to be very good.

I don't mind if i'll have to spend around 100$, but not much more, and it has to be in Europe.

The 2240:60 ratio Speedometers are for 21 inch front HD style wheels.
The speedometer drive on the front wheel must also be 2240:60 ratio to match.
If you go with left side front disc you have several choices of speedo drives with different thickness spacers. With right side front disc you have just the .600 thousandths thick spacer speedo drive gear.

It would be easier to just get the MPH version and put a small colored tape on the speedo to mark KPH. That is what they do on aircraft gauges to mark things.
Just a very small colored piece of tape.
