Modern tire machines go a long way to make it possible to mount and dis mount without marking the wheel. With a good operator, it's worth the extra bucks to not mess with it. at least that's been my experience so far, CB AND CBR 600. I've worried about wheel marring too, but thankfully, I can't find any. I don't know if I'd patch a speed rated sport bike tire like the guy was planning tho. Only if it were temporary.
