cb 550sc possible mods
« on: May 11, 2010, 07:43:32 PM »
Ive got a 83 cb550sc. Chopped the frame rails in the back and made a custom fender with a cat eye tail light. Custom forward controls. Clubman bars suzuki headlight, solo seat, air pod filters lowered the front. Since the pictures ive cut the mufflers off and made custom struts to make it a hardtail. Currently waiting for my new carb jets to come in to get the carb tuning right since the exhaust and carb mod. Im wondering who has one any major mods to the same model bike. I have a difficult time finding ideas to go with from here. I would like to swap out the front end along with cutting the frame neck to get a good rake in the front. I also want to swap out the hand controls to somthing updated. I would like to change from rear drum to disc brakes too. Please post anything you have done that might work well on a bike like this along with pics. Ill post new pics with the recent mods.

I like, what are those wheels off of and how hard to fit. They look very light.

Welcome to the forum.
Don't personally have any ideas for your bike, but it looks like you have a good start and some good ideas for later mods.

You can always look through the bike galleries (off the main web site) or thumb through this "Inspiration" thread:

You prolly won't see too many NightHawks in there as this is a single cam forum.  You got two sticks in that bad boy!  ;)

Welcome just the same!
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

The wheels are stock. Rattle canned for the time being along with the rest of the bike but if I ever decide to call it finished ill probably get them powdercoated.

I'm in the same boat!
I have almost wrapped up working on my Yamaha XS400 where there is a big forum dedicated to that bike.
But for some reason I can't find much inspiration for my new 1983 CB550SC.
...I wonder if it should be worrisome not a lot of people have customized these bikes?
