Whoops made a typo Terry. Its a 1979 GS1000EN. Yes I did buy it. Fixed a few niggles that it had and have ridden it once so far and it felt very nice. Hopefully get a little better weather and time can take a little longer jaunt before its all over around here. Has a couple upgrades I see so far, electronic ignition and K&N air filter.  You want that one in the container also  :D

Well done Eric, nice! EI is a good upgrade on the early models, from 1980 the factory EI worked great, although the "Black Boxes" occasionally crapped out, that's why I installed a Martek 440 and Dyna coils in mine, is that a Dyna 3 in yours? A mate of mine has a very original, (and neglected) 1980 GS1000E in his garage, I must pay him a visit........... ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I have not really checked out the ignition to see the brand yet Terry. The black box is mounted upside down on the frame under the tank and I have not checked out a logo etc yet if it has one and the blue color of the unit is darker than in the 'flashy' picture. Will have to pop the cover for a closer look.

Eric, that ignition plate looks exactly like my Andrews ignition I have for my KZ1000...mine looks like it's very similar to Dyna S-just the ignition plate and coils, no black box involved...however I have not tried to research it or use it and it is possible that I am missing the black box.
If it works good, it looks good...

Yeah, looking at the plate it looks like a Dyna 3, they were a really good ignition, I've had a couple over the years and they chucked a nice fat blue spark. I don't know why Dyna stopped making them, except that they were about twice the price of the Dyna S.

I've got a very trick Gerex Multi Spark ignition for a GS1000 here, they went broke because they were awfully expensive, but were supposed to work well. Cheers, Terry. ;D

I had the Gerex on my GoldWing, I liked it a lot.
