JB weld on exhuast yes or no
« on: September 01, 2014, 11:37:31 AM »
Can you use JB weld on an exhaust to plug leaks.
I think the leaks are from road rash and a bit of rust.
It is on a steel exhaust from an RD350 somewhere near the expansion chamber and the muffler.
It's a mates bike and I haven't seen the exhaust but I told him I would ask here to see what people have used JB weld for successfully
Thanks
Scott

Yes it will hold up well.  When I bought my K6 the pipes where covered in it, including the rear peg bolt hole which was just rusty metal chips & JB weld.

(Of course the eBay add stated the pipes were "solid"  he just did not say solid what. :) )

I think someone said there was a high temp version- or other brand of high temp epoxy. I think JB has ground aluminim powder in it, so it won't burn easy but it will burn.

I cannot find my pictures but, JB Weld DOES make a high temperature formula that comes in a clear plastic tube and you cut off a piece and knead it into epoxy.
I have successfully used it to repair a cylinder head exhaust stud mount that was broken at the head and the head was in pieces. It works GREAT!   :)

Is there anything more fun than riding? They are between your legs and are quiet when you turn them off.
