Hello all, before I drop any money on it...I was wanting to get the opinion of those in the know could let me know if it is the original engine or not. The bike is a 1/70 build, the frame is CB750-102087X and the engine is CB750E -101996X...the spread is 91X numbers apart....with the engine being much lower...I dont remember the numbers off my 3/70 bike...but I don't think the spread was that big. Bike appears to be as the factory made it...I need some help on this one.

My 4/70 KO is frame 103123x and my engine is 103152X , 29 number spread. Yours is further apart 91. But I would would say nothing is wrong with that either

She's ugly as a mud fence...but for $150...what do you expect? No seat...it has some rusted out no numbers on it (shame) and the engine is stuck. It's going to need practically everything.

Carbs are a later model. Maybe the triple tree is salvageable.

I find the numbers interesting, and sounds to me like they were shipped together.
But the other interesting thing is, I know of. 19k or 20k serious number bikes made in Dec.
If there were in deed 20k bikes made in Dec,then they;
A, have to be lower number than this one..or
B, it is evidence of at least two assembly lines on the floor.

Worth 150.00 in parts, I say YES..

The condition doesn't phase me really, as all the stuff that is going to be replaced I had to do alot of in my other K0 build and know what it will take for this gal too. I know I'll end up getting a blue set of yamiya repro K0 bodywork, don't really want two red ko's...beyond that, who knows. The missing parts I need are of course the expensive ones...gauges, seat, bodywork, pipes, etc. It will be hands down the most expensive restoration I have done...and for a K0 I'm cool with that.

It is a pretty scruffy looking gal, but I'm sure I can fix it, and it deserves it.

but the bike looks like the engine has never been out...it a1ppears to have a sandcast cylinder and head...but I'll have to get a good look at it again. The carbs aren't the right ones, but I know where a set is. Fenders...probably know where a set is as well. Maybe even a correct tank for repaint. Thr gauges though will be harder to come by though. I still think I can build it for less than what it would cost for a restored one on ebay...and I'll do it over time and throw the receipts away lol.

I'm willing to go the distance if the board is willing to help me with knowledge and parts locating!

Is that a rolled rear wheel? It's so hard to tell in a photo. An unbroken top tree could be worth 1/2 of the money any other good K0 part could break even, I'd offer $50 and help a couple guys out.

The engines were delivered and not lined up in order or rotated to insure freshness, one in the corner may have sat a long time, one just put in front would be pulled out of the batch sooner. One with a defect could be repaired and be put back in a couple weeks alter. So some engine # can be lower and some higher and by different margins.

I have some K0 gauges if you need them. Most are excellent. I also have K0 carbs.

Any K0 is likely worth restoring. It's a shame the tappet covers were left off. I can't see if it has the extra cylinder head bolt in the front between two and three, but my guess is it does. It's going to be a lot of work to bring that back so if you're not afraid of the condition like you said, it could be a solid investment. That said, if you have that money now and just really want a K0, it might be smarter (time and effort-wise) to find a nice running bike for the upper end of what this one will cost you to restore.

I just got done with this K0, I have a bunch of other old bikes and newer ones to ride, this is going to be a long term build, but it deserves it. It's basically going to be torn down to the bare frame and cases and built up over time from there. I really want a blue K0, and it's totally doable...I completely intend to lose money building this bike, and that's ok...I'll be buried with it.

If you can bring that one back from the grave I commend you. Nice that someone would want to save it. It will take many dollar bills and a very strong commitment that's for sure. Good luck with it.

I love these bikes...they have a great sound to them...so much soul...I'll do what It takes to get it back up and road worthy...it may have to wait until I get through with the RD400 project...and the H2...but I'll collect parts in the meantime and keep it out of the weather.

My K0 was made March, 1970 and and serial numbers are 102-904X and 102-969X. Spread is 653.

It's a 72 H2...it's taken me forever to get the parts I need...I started with a bare frame and engine.

At the weekly vintage bike night taking a chance at finding parts and motivation to finish it.

My dad's K6 he bought new...original with 8k miles.
