I think that 15A is a little undersized,  I would go with a 20A. What is the reg/rec rated at?

Thanks Dave,
I have no idea what the reg/rec is rated at. It's a Rick's unit. Does it say anywhere? I couldn't find it. I don't think people normally put fuses inline there. But as Cal suggested, I'd like to protect this battery as much as I can.

Yeah, glad I found the problem, but still don't know if the fuse was just too small or if the reg/rec was over charging the battery or something.

There's a 5mm voltage monitoring LED or it can be configured to measure charge current that I picked up on eBay.  I am forgetting the exact name.  Bright something. ..

This what you were talking about? http://goo.gl/7PB9Zo Kinda cool little thing.

Yes, sparkbright is the product, the auto version that comes in 5, 8, and 10 mm versions. It works well.

Thanks, I'll consider it if I can find a good place to mount it.

The upper triple tree looks like it has holes already to accommodate one and you could be using the other hole on the other side for a power port if you were to ride with a tank bag and want to charge a phone or run a gps.
Just a thought.  Where are your warning lights?

My warning lights are in the speedo. The holes you're seeing on my top triple are the holes from shaving down the handle bar bosses. I'm very particular where I put things, haha. I forgot that I actually have a numerical readout digital voltmeter. I could temporarily mount it somewhere for a week or so just to make sure there aren't issues then remove it and hope for the best, I'll probably do that if anything but that LED one is really cool.

30 amp fuse, baby! So far so good. Was checking the voltage periodically during the ride and all seems to be normal.

Thanks Cal for checking your bike. ...and that 'baby' up there wasn't for you. It was more of a Constanza 'baby'.

Something to ogle:

http://www.ripplerockracers.com/product/honda-cb650-hindle-stainless-steel-exhaust-fits-1979-82/

Ugh, tell me about it. Cal posted that link a little while ago and I've been reading about it and saved the link. Probably going to get it and their 16" reverse cone muffler. The 12" is probably too loud for me...but I really wish I could try it out first.

What exhaust are you going with?

Do the reverse cone mufflers impact the power due to pulse of the reflection off the cone impacting the power a bit for a certain rpm range. Tuned pipes on RC airplane engines have this tuning possible.

I'm assuming the louder 12" has the potential of creating more horsepower but I wonder how loud it is. Wish there was a video comparison of the two. Or maybe I'll ask MRieck what he recommends when I get the machining done.

As for restrictions due to the outlet shape...I gots no idea. That's above my pay grade.

Kemp recommended the 12" for power, and said it was still less loud than the MGP.  I'm curious what MR says, too.

Cool. I've never heard the MGP mufflers but it's nice to know the Hindle mufflers aren't the loudest out there. Not looking to attract too much attention, don't want to get pinched.

The unbaffled MotoGP pipe is fairly LOUD.  The baffled version has a good rasp but is not overly-loud.  According to Kemp, the Hindle is baffled and less loud than the MGP pipe.

No one needs unnecessary attention from Johnny Law.

That Hindle is the business.. I wish mine allowed me to access the filter.

I ended up with a lossa 4-1 and its stupid loud without the baffle. I actually modified the baffle to make it longer with more ports, then wrapped it with fiberglass and jammed it in there. It takes the edge off dB wise.

I've never gotten any flack for it from the cops, but people usually roll up their windows when I pass on the left. ;D

I have a Lossa 4-1 on my 550.  It was originally unbaffled and LOUD, so Jay made me a baffle.  It is just about right loudness, but I wonder how much performance is lost.  It's kind of an empirical issue since the stock 550 motor is so anemic.

I'm not that big of a fan of the hindle pipes I've seen recently, they aren't tuned length at all so I'm surprised they are touted as a high performance pipe, {maybe they'll hand make proper ones but I bet they are more expensive} I see better HP figures simply by being less restricted but if you look at one of the best pipes ever made for the Honda the German Schule 4 into 2 into 1, they garantee their pipe for 10 years and up too 20% increase in performance when set up properly, thats why I like Chris's 4 into 2 into 1, its based on that Schule, I lined one up yesterday, will be here soon.... 8)

they guarantee their pipe for 10 years and up too 20% increase in performance when set up properly...
I'm lost... 200% from a pipe only change? Are they saying 200% flow improvement versus stock?

I don't see an issue with durability of beyond 10 years from a quality stainless exhaust, regardless of the maker. Both MGP and Hindle make some pretty handsome products. Given the Hindle is backed by another racing engineer's pedigree and dyno testing, I'd tend to accept their claims. Taking nothing away from MGP, but his availability of these systems creates market entrance for other vendors of quality products.

And the best part, exchange rate, Baby!!!! (Sorry, Mick, I know you all pay thru the nose and eyes for imported stuff)

20% percent mate, If I could buy or make a pipe that gave 200% performance increase I'd be all over it  ... ;D :o  I was just stating my preference, I have both of his pipes now, 4 into 2 into 1 shipping soon, Actually, I would love one of the Japanese titanium pipes, but I won't buy a pipe thats worth more than my bike.. :o   I wasn't disputing their claims, just saying that A proper tuned length pipe will perform better no matter what, if it didn't matter, no one would make them... ;)

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of it's victim may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated, but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." - C.S. Lewis
