the BT45 are available in 3.25/19 front and 4.00/18 rear, at least here in europe they are. that's what bridgestone recommends for the 550.

Thats weird, I've looked for a while and can't find anything.

I don't want to stray too far from stock, but I guess 100f/110r would be ok. Issue mainly is for my front; the fender is very close to the sidewalls on my current tire. I could modify the fender if it's an issue, though.

I'm not part of the camp that wants a wider tire for looks. It's just not necessary for our bikes with the little horsepower they make. Plus, tires can be heavy, haha.

Thanks for the thoughts, I'll order something this week. Also against my better judgement I might be getting the Motogadget chronoclassic 10k rpm tavh soon...after that, I think I'll have a complete bike!

That's a great tach. Make sure to save a button on your controls so you can cycle through the menus and features.

I'm not so much of a wide tire guy, but I do like a slightly larger contact patch.

I have the Chronoclassic Dark 10K gauge, although you'll have yours working before mine!

I have to buy it first...but I might do that this month, so yeah maybe, haha. I like the look of the dark but I hear it's not great in the sun. I'm just going normal screen.

That's a great tach. Make sure to save a button on your controls so you can cycle through the menus and features.

I have no spare buttons on the bars so I'll be wiring in a momentary switch somewhere. Maybe on the bracket I make to house it.

That's a great idea. I used 2 of the 3button m-switches. So left signal, right signal, start, hi beam, horn, and chronoclassic menu button. I have the black. 0 issues in the sun. I can't speak highly enough about it.

Not that anyone cares, but I think I decided on tires, haha. After seeing bikes with thinner tires it turns out I am one of those people who like a wider tire :)

100/90-19 F
110/90-18 R

I found the actual measurements of the Avon Roadriders so I'm using this to make sure I have enough rear tire clearance and am able to fill my front fender up. A good side effect is that the bike will be lower overall by almost half an inch.

If anyone is interested: http://www.avonmoto.com/products/street-bias/roadrider

Those of you not running a speedo cable, do you just leave the drive gear open? I'm considering turning a part to replace it. Just plain aluminum able to hold the seal.

I am not using a speedo and plan on making a spacer to suit.  I think it cleans up the front wheel.  8)

I agree, it would look better for sure. Maybe I'll get some more aluminum stock...

Hey Dave
Not sure if you checked your Hindle exhaust yet but seems like they have had a problem. Both myself, sinister, and GV have received the wrong set of pipes. Scott at Hindle believes the error has occurred in the shipping department, with one set of headers belonging to a kz1000 being mixed in with the 650 pipes.

This goes for anyone  who has bought cb650 pipes from them in the last 6 months to a year until present.

Not sure when I got mine but I had no fitment problems when I test fit it a few weeks ago.

I'm sure Kemp will correct this without a frown.

Thanks for the heads up though

I'm not sure Kemp knows of the issue. I was contacted and have been dealing with Scott at Hindle directly.

Ah ok, well even so I'm sure you'll get yourself sorted. I got my Hindle from RRR in October of 2015.

Hi Guys, sorry I was just made aware of the issue by GV. I hadn't heard anything from the client ( or Hindle even) or I would have straightened this out for sure.  Of all the pipes we've made the CB650 is the only one to ever have had picking problems in shipping. I will get this under control with Hindle next week when I'm up there to work on the new VFR system 1986-88 (shameless plug)!! I will back up my pipes so just give me a shout with any issue. All the best with your build!!

No worries Kemp just wanted to give everyone a heads up. Everyone at Hindle has been great to deal with and is working hard to resolve any issues. Mix ups happen, but maybe your country should rethink legalizing marijuana  ;D ;D ;D

Kemp,

Thanks for being such a solid guy.  I love my 550 pipe.  I haven't fitted my 650 pipe but don't expect any issues as I got mine around the same time as Dave.

Mine was purchased in February. Sinister's a year ago. Same issue with both. That Hindle is resolving.

They may have had the pipes mislabeled or papers swapped accidentally in the build line or within production and packaging or in the distribution. Could have had a computer error and data entry error where the wrong pipe was picked for the systems being pulled for shipment. There are a number of places the process could have broken. As Kemp and others have reported, Hindle is standing behind them and working to respond to the problem to correct it.
Hopefully, their corrective actions procedures and failure analysis can pinpoint the issue so checks and balances can be put into place to prevent this error in the future or for other products offerings. It doesn't take many bad experiences to really impact negatively a company's reputation and their bottom line. When bad experiences get shared their ripple affect is felt but often that corrective action and the superb handling of the issue does not receive equal ripple to counteract that damaging ripple. It really can majorly affect small companies.
Not that Hindle is all that small, but it would surely be felt. The Canadian Dollar's impact I am certain has had significant affect on many companies as that lowered purchasing power leads to lower profits and price increases if the currency remains low and does not rebound. Because it is rare these days that materials for creating a product are sourced nationally and those prices are not affected by world market prices for the raw materials.
Only with long windows of materials pricing contracts locking in lower costs of materials for when prices go up can a business weather these hits, but if they go the other way it is two edged unless the contract has the ability to adjust downward when markets for materials lower and remain lower for a threshold period of time. I believe those clauses are rare to be seen.
David- back in the desert SW!

Hi Guys, hi-jacking your thread again just to say sorry about the mix up with the CB650 headers. It appears that the issue was a bin picking problem which Scott at Hindle has sorted out. KZ1000 headers got mixed with the CB650 because of a bin picking issue. Hindle is on top of the issue and are sending replacement pieces and waybills to have the wrong headers returned. Thanks again for your support and checkout ripplerockracers.com!!

I have no speedo on my K3, forum member Godfrey sells a spacer at a very reasonale cost.

PS. I like wide tires too!  But 4.00-18 is as wide as I'll go on a stock 550 rim. The IRC 4.00 appears wider that the Dunlop 110/90 that I had on my other 550.

He does doesn't he...just checked them out, thanks. I was originally thinking the spacer needed to have the seal in there too, but I guess the seal is really only there to keep crap out of the speedo drive gear. I have sealed bearings in the wheel so I guess just a spacer is all I need.

I think I'll just turn a spacer on my lathe, although what he offers is cheap for what it is.
