This is what kinetic had to say, very fast response time by the way.

Our new exhaust has been selling at $1200. The pictures on instagram are exhausts built for actual customers who had already purchased them. Of course, we are not limited to that style, we build these exhausts 100% by free hand on an actual CB550. We are able to route the exhaust piping to however you like it and add a muffler style to whichever you prefer. The $1200 price includes shipping, fully stainless steel flanges, piping, and muffler.

That's likely a fair price for a bespoke exhaust, although it ought to be in titanium for that price.

Yes, I recently asked about getting a titanium, tuned length 4 into 2 into 1 exhaust made and $1200 was the magic number.. ;)

Not trying to be a prick, but their exhaust disappoints me. Too many welded angles. I suspect the flow will be quite disrupted and not produce nearly the same performance as a Yoshi style bent tube header. For the product shown, $1,200 is too much. but I would pay $1,200 for a MGP Ti system!

I don't think that's prick-ish at all, I completely agree. It seems like their exhausts are nice looking and well made with great welds but I'd rather spend half as much and get a tuned system built for performance.

I'll add at this point that the Hindle posted in this thread isn't tuned length at all either...

Except that for a 650, theres really no better option. Your point is valid, but I'd still plunk down the $ for a Hindle even on a 550 (definitely for a 650) before I'd pony up for the "Kinetic" pipes.

I suppose that all depends on what your expectations are for the pipe, No disrespect but I wouldn't refer to the Hindle as a "performance pipe", even though it would be better than the restrictive stock pipes or a Mac, I'm sure you understand what i'm saying.. ;)
The Kinetic pipes look like they are built from the parts you can buy from cone engineering...

Yes they do. And someone took a major shortcut by maximizing length and minimizing welds versus maximizing flow and minimizing angular joints. But I guess thats the major difference between a welder and a performance exhaust builder  8)

I didn't mean tuned length, so I shouldn't have said "tuned". I really meant dyno tested and built with performance in mind.

My point is that although they are an improvement in performance, they are still not ideal in design, Unequal length secondaries and no merge collectors, just not what most people would call a "performance pipe". I'm not having a go at them, just pointing out the difference between them and a true performance pipe.  Its a shame there are so little to choose from for the 650... ;)

You guys can talk about my momma but don't you DARE talk about my Hindle!

Haha, I completely understand. I was referring to the difference between the Kinetic seeming to be an aesthetic system and the Hindle which they advertise as an upgrade. And yeah, I wish there was more to choose from for the 650...actually I don't even remember seeing anything else other than the Hindle made of stainless?? But in all honesty, if there was an actual tuned length system for the 650 readily available but for like $300-400 more, I'd still probably get the Hindle. For the price and apparent performance gain it seems like a great buy.

Yes, no other option for a stainless 650 pipe and it's a damn good bang for the buck and a big improvement over stock and the Mac.

I think the 674cc kit, Mike Rieck ported head and cam will offset any deficiency in the tuned length.

So just got about 2/3 of my motor back from vapor blasting. Looks awesome! These parts were painted black and they were in rough shape, but now they're all shiny and nice. Vapor blasting is honestly more matte of a finish than I though it'd be but I'm still super happy.

I really recommend this guy Dmitry over in RI. If you're interested, shoot him an email! dslootskin@cox.net

Dang, Dave.
Those engine parts look sexy.
They make that Hindle for a 550 head as well, don't they?  (ie not just the 650 head)

Edited:
Never mind...I just traced back through the thread and found the Ripple Rock Racing part that I was missing from the Hindle exhaust.  I was looking on Hindle's site and not finding anything specific but I found the link when I went to RRR's site.

The Kinetic pipe that you saw on Instagram is mine. I asked Mike to make me something different than all the other 4-1s out there. It is amazing quality and craftsmanship. The sound is truly awesome. I think the price was great.

The rest of the parts will get done next week. Looking at the upper case half I have I'd say the parts were rough. ;D Both the stuck cylinder studs are now out....that's a good start.

Looking good, Dave. Not all vapor blasting looks the same. It has a great deal to do with the process and formula each tradesman uses, almost like a food recipe. And different machines produce slightly different results. I bet if you check with Nils (noblehops) he could provide some greater detail and or some input on how to get a slightly higher lustre if thats what you want?

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of it's victim may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated, but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." - C.S. Lewis

I'm more thinking about how it'll hold up to stains and such. A matte finish won't clean as easily as a glossier surface. But I'm not worried about it, I'm really happy how it turned out. I'd definitely send him more stuff to get this same result.
