The Honda shop manual show a different wire diagrams for 77 CB750K.
The 77 shows several block connectors not found on earlier models.
I can imagine you can make it work, if you transfer the block connectors and terminals over to the older harness. Or convert the components on your 77 to eliminate the block connectors.
77 also has a different Key switch and connector than the 76 and prior.
If you change enough things you can make anything work.
The best change I can recommend for you, is to not rely on Clymer for precise guidance.
